Cheap Greenhouse

So I have been searching around the net for greenhouse plans and builds and came across this website/blog that has a few on it. They are built from PVC tubing, some basic lumber and 6-11mm plastic. From the looks of it these things are pretty tough and can be built to suit many needs for any budget. I am currently gathering up the building materials and will be building my own soon. Having a greenhouse like this will definitely make growing a tad easier especially with any nosy neighbors.

Well my plans are to till the ground where the greenhouse is going to be built in a 10x20 ft area, once that part is finished I will build the lower frame with 2x10" pressure treated lumber. From there I will add the rebar and then make a walk way down the middle by adding landscapers felt and some patio stones from end to end. After that is done I am going to back fill the entire area with fresh new soil and mix it all again with the rotor tiller just to ensure a good grow area. I am still going to do my outdoor grow again next year but I figured the greenhouse was pretty cheap so why not go for gold so to speak..lol. Glad the link helped ... I hope to see a few others on here make use of such a great cheap design. Total cost of the greenhouse should be around 500.00 CDN.. and even cheaper for our U.S. neighbors..

Veggiegardener... mine is going N to S to allow maximum sun light to the greenhouse.

Thats how I make mine except the wood end walls, I leave those plastic with windows for nice airflow. Doing it that way you can spend about $300 for a 10 X 20.

I am opting for the wood end walls myself... I want to hard mount some vent fans for good airflow and cooling. The wood ends also make it a bit more sturdy in my opinion for winds and winter weather.

I am having to do mine by only buying the plastic covering. I will be using all recycled materials other than that.

Yes doublejj... I think everyone here has seen your great greenhouse... lucky bastard..lol... The height is only limited by the length of the conduit piping. The longer the conduit the higher the roof line. The conduit can be joined with PVC glue so from there the only limiting factor would be how much of a bend can the tubing take before it buckles. I am guessing at this but I think you could reach the height you currently have with no issues..

BLOTTO.. tks for the kind words.. I hope many a grower benefits from the plans... Good on you for using recycled materials... thinking green is never a bad idea.

I was looking at building one of these but then decided on the carport frame. But, if I were to build one of these I would make the ends out of sunscreen mesh, let some air thru. These look like they should work great

yep but even when it's below 0 outside and the inside is above 45 degrees the snow melts from the top and only gets a couple inches high untill it stops snowing. Bubble wrap that whole thing and you got some bullet proof growing in below 0 degrees

Laying black plastic on the ground and layering mulch over it would probably serve you much better than tilling and back filling. Potted plants can be planted in the mulch and the mulch will generate heat for the roots. Also, if you use 2 or more layers of plastic over the greenhouse the space between the layers acts as insulation.

If you decide to use mulch, don't use bulk mulch, you'll just be paying for ground up garbage that has a bad odor. The real shredded hardwood bark mulch has an odor that will do a lot to mask the marijuana odor and it's not unpleasant.

The greenhouse will probably be 10 plants just to start so I can see how they do and what work they will require. I was reading about the double wrap bit on another website and how pumping it with air will act as an insulation barrier... was pretty interesting how they had it set up.

Not sure about using mulch... still checking out all my options as far as the greenhouse goes.. tks for the info. though I will be looking into it.
