My plants are getting eaten by ants!!!

Idk what to do, I've tried organic solutions to this problem, but no luck yet. My plants have nothing on the front or backs of the leaves, so I know its not mites or any other nasty little critters. I noticed a couple of my leaves have been getting eaten, and I looked and seen ants trailing up the stem!! I watered it and like ten of them ran out from their hole! I tried putting nicotine around my plant, and even threw out mulberries and blackberries around my plant so they can be enticed by something else, but nothing. Them fuckers want to feed off my plants thc instead lol. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated=] thanks.

ants generally don't eat live plant material.
They will farm aphids for the honeydew though.
The aphids will eat your plant and the ants tend to them like farmers to livestock.
It's kind of trippy watching..
Either way you need to get rid of the ants, so look for aphids and treat for them.

ps: aphids are found on the stalk/stems too

Dont put any other food around your plant because it will just attract even more. Put a circle of ajax around your plant.(being its not windy) the ants wAlk in the ajax and die.

And what happens when the plant is watered and it rains and that seeps into the soil and gets to the roots?

I should have explained better. Obviously use common sence as to put it far enough away so it does not seep into the roots. Its a big can, you can make a big perimiter. (several of them) hint hint

Howdy!

Here is what I did...

TERRO makes a liquid ant bait and ants LOVE it! The cost is about $3.50 for about 3 oz from Home Depot. Very inexpensive and no messes. Ants DELIGHTFULLY take the TERRO back to the nest and in about 7 to 9 days the entire colony is wiped out for sure for months to come.

Get a water bottle top and fill it to just under half full of TERRO. Place the cap in the path of your current ant infestation. Within hours you will see SCORES of ants swarming all over the cap and they will continue to go for the TERRO night and day! The ants will favor the bait much more than your plants so your plant attack will end quickly.

Just keep a eye on the level and if it gets too low, add more to keep the liquid to maintain a half-full level because trust me, your ants will guzzle it down.

Sam, I am confident this very long term solution will work very well for you! TERRO makes ant traps and other plastic enclosed baits but the liquid form is a much better deal and the bottle top approach works great in every respect.
