Fish filter.....will it serve any purpose to prevent root rot?

will this serve any purpose to keep your water clean in a dwc setup? maybe helping prevent root rot?

I wouldnt,Im not 100% sure but you may end up traping nutes in the carbon or filter medium of the filter,although it might not be a bad idea for just plain water,fill your storage water tote add the filter and it should clean it up some if your useing tap water.

never for one second did i think it would trap nutes..........thats a real obvious reason not too. thanks snocat. excuse my brain fart.
