MG Ferts...Do they work?

OK, so I have been here about a year now and I am always seeing things about MG that are always negative. Last year and this I used MG. No problems. This years not finished yet, but last year I flushed 1 week and a half and the bud tasted as good as any Dank I bought locally. Actually some buddies made comments trhat it was the best they smoked of anybody they knew that grew. My buddies are middle aged so they know there weed.

So why is it a lot of people defer others to high cost brand names. I say use what you have or can afford. I think the more important factors are consistancy, ratio mixes, and patients when feeding.

This site is about helping each other with the grow process, not to push your way of doing things on others. If someone say they use MG them just direct them on the correct usage not tell them to junk it and get FF or something. Making sugestions is understandable but dont make people feel there idiots for using a certian product. All I am saying is just help people work with what they have, not everyone is growing pounds and making mucho denaro.

So lets just see how many people do use MG...+ Rep to all that speak up.

I tried a MG grow in the very beginning. I was also using MG time release soil. My plants did grow, and their quality was mostly due to poor environmental factors. However..... I can vouche for the fact that it is easy to overnute and burn your gals with miracle grow. I made the mistage of using that time release soil, and when i began the mg feeding, BURN CITY! Flushing the soil, only activated more fertilizer, and worsened the problem for about 2weeks. Of course, should one tailor their growing style to the use of miracle grow, ive no doubt it ill work just fine. Seems like a lot of HUGE successful operations use MG in bulk w/o issue. Perhaps MG is a better performer when used in larger commercial ops, while custom nutes excell in an overly pampered environ?


I switched to Earth Juice in my soil because i cant leave shit alone, and the MG was a tad touchy for my style. I quit using fert soil, mixed my own, and went organic. The next crop was better, but of course, so was my skill and environ conditions. Since then Ive gone hydro and use premier nutes. I will say, the cost of nutrients for me is staggering, but the quality and yield of my nugs pleases me too. Hard to compare my soil mg grows and my hydro adv nute grows, since they are so different.

Dont forget that the strain of plant has a lot to do with it too. Perhaps some heartier breeds thrive on MG. Hell, Ive heard of a strain that used NO NUTES. he may have been full of shit, but maybe not. As far as flavor, Ive noticed HUGE differences between strains, but not so much becuzz of the nutes. A healthier plant tastes better for sure! Perhaps the flushing schedule b4 harvest has a ton to do with it too. If miracle grow works for you, and the wiser folk verify your nug quality, DONT CHANGE A THING! Why go expensive when you can make affordable work? Maybe buy a small ammount of some other nutes (organic?) and just use it on one or two babies. Never abandon success, but nothing wrong with a small experiment or two!. Happy growing!

MG doesn't suck but as with a lot of nutes out there, it doesn't offer all 17 micro and macro nutrients that plants need to thrive. It sounds like you're an outdoor guy, I'd challenge you to use a neutral medium like promix indoors and only use MG for food. I promise your results will be awful as MG doesn't have everything your plants need. When you see a line of base nutes, then calmag supplements and sweeteners and bloom boosters, those are just an attempt at making a complete line of nutes. In the nute company's defense, some of those minerals just can't be mixed together in the high of concentration in one bottle or they'll bond. I guess my point is that outdoor and indoor feeding requirements differ from a bottled fertilizer perspective and what really means something is not the fancy label on the front, but the guaranteed analysis on the back.

I drove a Chevette for many years because I did not know better nor did I care about my outward appearance. Now that I am older, wiser and able to spend more on a nicer vehicle I do. MG will get you to the end just fine like the Chevette. But why would you drive the Chevette when you have something so much better in the garage? If not for the lack of money or experience I dont know why anyone in their sane mind would use it, especially if they have been here for over a year reading and learning and seeing first hand all the negative stuff on MG.

I use Mg soil but only 1/2 doses so it keeps fert under control I only feed when Needed not just because they say
Pay attention to the details and only give what is Needed!..
Neg to most but if you can get a handle on it You will use less nutes in the end saving $
If it works I will drive it not get a new one and cant afford to put gas in so it stays in garage! lol

I have heard negative things and thats my point, I never had any negatives from my own personal experience. Maybe the people using it or has used it and has negatives didn't use it properly.

bottom line is there is better stuff to use thats available online or with a simple phone call. But you are going to use what ever you want to and thats cool and thats what makes it all fun.

True man true...some just cannot be patient with Mg you have to ease into ferts for there is lots in soil! Experience help allot

I put my seeds in the dirt and water til bust and after with Superthive and MG mixed. Sure seems to give mine one hell of a boost. 1/2 strength on MG in the beginning though.

I am having a comparison between my CFLs and the HPS and see what works better this next harvest.
I am also comparing my hmoemade bucket system to a store bought one that i bought many years ago.

Thats what growing is all about experiment and you will have the experiment and evidence then they can tell us what was better for them...we could all learn from each others experiences...true Wisdom

Like my signature says... I will be willing to try Ocean Forest....as a matter of fact I got some Anestasia seeds coming for indoor this winter, I'll give it a shot.
Also my buddy grew some 8 ft. tall tomatoes this year so I am going to try his organic soil mixture...think it has mushroom compost and bone meal in it.

Maybe gas is a bad analogy in that some cars are tuned to a certain point and lower grades of gas tend to make a tuned engine knock. Plants aren't engines and about 99% of the products in your hydro store would equate to 'regular' fuel, not premium, regardless of price.

I don't know why they don't listen...however, I have had sex many, many years but I have not stopped experimenting and I sure don't think I have learned it all.
