hello to all growers and smokers

so the thing is that im growing for three years now , i was doing great with soil
smell was amazing fat , fat budes , and i was getting high and thought i have amsterdam grade weed ( allso alot of feedback i had). then i went to amsterdam , smoked super lemon haze and the first thing i said to my self was : there is somthing wrong that i do in my grow. the smoke was amazing , i thoght i got very tolorent with thc , but i was very stoned. i could smoke ten jointes of my stuff and not getting that high.
so , im asking my self , what do i miss , i grew nirvana , dutch passion , mandala , joey weed ( "blue widow" which was my favorite) . was growing with soil , which i dont like so much . i like thigs to be very acurate , but what they sell ass soil is actualy peat moss ( mostly ) , which is not soil att all , and the fact that peat need to be ph adj. i feel half blind when i grow with soil. never the less , i had some great healthy plants ( along with mistakes ) .

i tell you what i think ,

1. genetics - i have all ready kali mist and ak47 from serios seeds. hope this will do the work for me.

2. im going to try a hydro system for the main reason that i know precicely to know how and what to feed my plants , knowing they get the best care.

ok , that is long anough . i would love to hear you guys about this.
thanks.

wish you all happy smoke and grow ,

Are you used to sativa highs? They can be VERY up to the point of being uncomfortable. I've been to Amsterdam twice and wasn't impressed with the product over there. Sure it was top-notch, but so are the strains that we all have access to assuming we are capable of growing them to their full potential.

Well never been to Amsterdam but been to Vansterdam (vancover canada) and a ton of sun spots, a few other countries in Europe. Smoked some great weed and in 40 years of smoking I have only been brought to my knees maybe 5 times and 4 of them close to home, but the smoke was brought by a visitor from some other state or country. The best turned me gray, made me wobbly and if my buddies weren't standing there I would have puked. Now I grow my own home bred seeds.

I buy 2 to 3 strains a year and grow them out looking for something better and I don't mind spending 140 to 300 for good seeds. I have been looking for 9 years and am still looking. It is really disappointing when you read amazing things and they give awards for the best Bla Bla. I finished growing out my last Fucking Incredible from VISC $140.00 and its just OK $60 seeds at best. Funny thing is another guy was growing the same seeds but a couple months behind me. He hates the shit to. Both are on this site. Any how I don't spend big $ any more I go middle of the road.

Peace

First off I would like to say that the potency and yield expectations that the seed breeders try to sell you is usually bullshit. These are based on perfect conditions (PERFECT!!) and assuming that you get the 1 great pheno out of many available in most strains. Genetics matter but IMO not nearly as much as proper equipment, knowledge and curing. Those guys in Holland know how to grow pot and they have thousands of square feet to grow out 500 plants to find the 10 good ones. Without they money space and knowledge they have you are basically playing the pheno lottery in your grows.

Sorry to hear that you can't get good soil, that is where the best plants come from IMHO. I don't know you living situation, whether it be house or apartment setting, make your own soil. You can make soil which will bring out the best in your plants without emptying your wallet or purse.
I started my soil/compost 4 years ago, I recycle the soil into the compost pile getting ready for the next grow. Using ingrediants that are common and free it is possible to make your soil alive and healthy. I use grass clippings, trimmings from banana trees, scraps from the kitchen, manure, wood ash (hardwood not pine or other soft woods), dead leaves and just about anything else I can compost down. There are many threads for this. I am able to go my entire grow without adding a bunch of expensive nutes. I only add manure tea as needed which is not often, some grows none at all and I do add molasses with some waterings. The molasses acts both on the plant and the soil keep them both healthy and alive. To make your soil/compost you only need a space of about 25 sq feet to make enough for each grow. This method takes more time, gathering your ingrediants but the price and the results are right on time. Hope this helps you or gives you something to think about.

The characteristics of your plant are determined by its genetics - ie what % thc, is it sativa or indica, when will it finish? The SEED decides that.

How MUCH bud you get get depends on how you grow it - what light (sun is best, of course), what soil, what ferts.

The final quality of the smoke - is it harvested at the right time, then properly dried and cured?

Another thing I have noticed is that over time you build up a resistance to a specific strain if you smoke it a lot.
When you try something new you get a very different high. We grow several strains, and switch off allowing us to enjoy the different qualities of each strain.
