Silencer or acoustic ducting?

Hi guys I'm just looking for some advice and opinions.

Anyway, I was just wondering what would be best for reducing fan noise silencer or acoustic ducting?

My current set-up is carbon filter directly into my fan and then regular ducting coming out of the exhaust of the fan out of the grow tent.

i have acoustic ducting and it does reduce noise yes but not completely but for me at least the main noise problem is the fan itself not the ducting

i live/grow in a basement using a 4x4 w/ 1000 watt digital ballast.

For noise first i hang everything by bungee cords (dollar store), I use a speed controler (hydro store), insulated ducting (hydro store), and the most important bit - sound proof insulation (home depot). i wrap my fan in one piece of insulation, pile it on the roof and stuff some between the walls and my tent. dude's ^ right its the fan is the source of the noise; IMO the ducting is worth 40 bucks but dont buy the silincer untill you've tried the insulation. I turned down the fan speed a little to take the edge of the noise and purchased an ONA mist to eliminate any lingering odors.

You can make those silencers with a section of hard duct with two inch holes drilled every few inches, covered in egg crate foam, and covered with another piece of hard ducting.

The answer depends on how much you're dealing with vibration-caused humming and how much you're dealing with the sound of air movement.

Hanging your fan from bungee cords or using rubber feet will handle vibration related noise.

Using a duct muffler will help control the sound of moving air.

Using a variable speed controller will help with both vibration and air movement noises.

Is a duct muffler the same as a silencer?
