power bills

so im 2 months late on my power bill, so i now own like 360$ and the bill says pay by 9/20 to avoid disconnection. so my question is, do you think they will actually disconnect it or is it a bluff?

o and im not growing so thats not a problem, im just fucking stupid and havent paid it. plus im broke.

They will disconnect. If you have a Caring and Sharing close to you, they will pay it if you are having hard times. You might also try the Good Will. If they cant help they can point you in the right direction.

Yea they dont bluff with that. But if you make any type of payment, they usually wont disconnect. If theres young children in the home they arent aloud to disconnect power though.

Try paying your bill, why let it get to that point. I realize we all have problems sometimes but every power comp I have ever dealt with will allow you to call and set up arrangments so they do not dissconnect. Who is your Power Provider. I have SDG&E and they shut off my power once, it was off for two weeks because not only did I have to pay the bill in full but also a 400 dollar deposit. Pay your bills or they will turn your stuf off. Then you lose money in your plants, your fridge items all go bad, no hot water, no lights. No power sucks.

Where I live you can buy some more time by setting up a plan to pay in installments.

i knew someone whos power got shut-off...they had to send a worker out to the power meter to do it...and when he wanted it turned back on he had to schedule and appointment to have them come back out and turn it on...its fucked

They'll turn it off. Ask them for a payment plan if you can't afford you're bill. The only time they can't close it is when it's the dead of winter and super cold out (pending your geographical region).

As stated, ask for a payment plan and then STICK TO IT! We were on one, and an auto payment did not go through (we didn't know about it) and they turned the power off. My power company is not required to send disconnect notices to those on payment plans. They WILL turn you off and then you have to pay the full balance to get it back on. It was $500+ for us, and we live in an area with a high water table meaning we have a sump pump. No power=flooded basement.
Check with your counties human services and see what help options you can get. If your in the USA and a Vet, I know for a fact there is a program via your local veteran affairs commission. Also check with large churches. You will not get help if your don't ask.

P.S. They don't even need to access my property to shut us off. They pull the fuse off the transformer out on the street. Probable because we have dogs in the back yard.

What is this VAC program you speak of? Is it a regional thing, is there an age/monetary restrictions. I am a combat vet and would be interested in this. I could always save more money.

For me it required a disconnect notice, I had to beg the power company for that as they said they don't give those notices for payment agreements. I think the max is $250 for a monthly bill. I am not sure how often this can be used. It may be a one time deal, but if you find your back against the wall it helps.

ask for the 10% plan u pay 10% of your old bill they will divide it up over the year,add 10% to current bill, you have to pay when you say u will, yes they will shut u off, then u have to pay reconnect, deposit & the bill in full
