Ok heres my setup regarding lighting and ventilation. I recently decided to invest in a good grow system and a good lighting set up (Vs a closet with a BUNCH of fluorescents) This is what it is
4w x 4L 7H insulated with
1000w hps (unless necessary I will get a smaller light)
10 inch ventilation fan

I got the 1000w because I had the money and everyone said it was something I would have no regrets about purchasing. The size of my grow room is whats bothering just about heat build up. I'm not to worried because winter is coming up and I have the attic-ish room in the upstairs but in the summer or even now will the 1000w produce to much heat? I would make it wider but as I go wider I have to drop the height because of the roof. Will the 1000w be ok now and in the summer with a 10inch fan at the top right wall with an extended tube of insulation board exhaust, and an intake that has the same insulation board tube to keep light out and reduce heat signature. Will these extensions made of insulation board, and the entire grow room being built out of insulation board reduce or get rid of the heat signature of the grow room? Just those questions before I start to germinated and turn the lights on. Super Lemon Haze is the strain if that will make a difference.

I'm trying to grow 8 plants, and is a foot and a half to close for a 1000w? I would trigger flowering at a point so that they roughly finish and I have room for the light as well as 8 plants so they grow healthy.

you will need a AC or a air cooled hood more than likely....!000w is hot....I ran a 1000w once with neither and it got up to 117 in the grow room....

in my 3'x3'x6 tent ambient outside air temp 70 degrees, inside tent 86. 4" 190 CFM exhaust running at half speed, 110CFM intake fan bringing in fresh air and 3 small fans inside circulating air.

I too have a 4x4x7 tent.I plan on getting a 600 or 1000.I recommend a cooltube or a/c reflector. You should be fine with either because it will exhaust the heat coming from the bulb which is causing all the heat.As long as you have fresh air coming in and a seperate exhaust besides the one from the reflector you should be fine.

Sounds good I think I may test run the 1000w and see what it does temperature wise before I add the plants, if all is good I will add the plants. As they grow if it gets hotter I will add a second and third fan if necessary. I think I will throw a humidity detector like I have for my boa. If it starts getting to dry could I put a bucket of water somewhere and let it evaporate to increase humidity like I do with my boa?

Yeah or you can just get a humidifier.

during flowering you want the humidity to be as low as possible. If you have too much exhaust than thats not good, unless you got the intake to match it. If you can get a aircooled hood than that would help alot.
