Any plumbers in da house????

I have a problem. Our kitchen sink got plugged up last night and we have tried 'industrial strength' Zep as well as a plumber thing and nothing is working.

We went to homedepot today to get one of those snake things that goes down that 'S' drain thing but the salesperson said that we could make it worse by lodging it in further.

Hubby is taking that area apart tomorrow just to have a look. If that doesn't work we will have to call in a plumber.

Does anyone have any suggestions before we do so?

My hubby is getting very frustrated.

Depends whats causing the clog. If its just grease build up boiling hot water poured down the drain. It can't hurt and worth a try.

clean your trap. that's the u shaped pipe under the sink. it's probably clogged.

We can;'t pour boiling water down because there has been some cold water setting there since this afternoon so i don't think the boiling water will get through.

We're going to take the trap door thingy apart tomorrow morning. We are both too exhauted to start that project tonight.

yes id unscrew the u bend and clean it out, its easy, even i can do that, so it must be easy, cos im rubbish with plumbing.

have you tryed a wire coat hanger down the sink, to try to loosen what ever it is.
btw whats blocked the sink?.

What have you been putting down the drain?

Do you have pvc or metal?

And as for a snake, this is what they are made for. They have a hook on the tip to stag or claw at objects in its way.

You might what to try a bathroom plunger this works for me sometimes, if not make sure you have some teflon tape to wrap around the threads on the fittings and trap.

If you don't see anything in the pipes then you have something in one of the mains. You can try a small snake to see if you get anything out.

If this doesn't work call your local plumier or see if a friend knows someone.

thats what I told hubby last night. I put some hot water down this morning and did see some bubbles.

Yeah. thanks logan. We did that last night and this morning. It doesn't do much.
I think we might have to call a plumber if he can't find anything in the trap.

Well the bubbles tell you there is something in the pipes so you should be able to remove the pipes and unclog it.

It takes me sometimes up to an hour to remove unwanted objects.

Yes thanks logan. We did that today. Hubby even cut the pipe and took out a bunch of my hair. I'm in trouble.

BUT its still blocked up. We don['t know what to do next. I'm hiding here downstairs 'cause I don't know what's coming next.

Our washer went over the holidays.

Its fixed. its fixed. hubby took apart underneath and bought a 15 foot wire thingy and attached his electric drill to it and it worked great.

Lots more of my hair came out.

Not a fun job.

But YESSSSS we did it.
