Horses for courses i'm afraid...People will always think their system has its merits...which is true,each style of growing does...but those merits may not be advantageous to other growers in other circumstances..

Get over yourselves and lets get on with growing!!

If CFLs dont work for you, quit whining and get another setup..same goes there's alot of CFL'ers that begrudge the opinions of the HPS/MH crowd..
We are all entitled to our opinions, just dont fuckin force em down the throats of other people..or this place is gonna get un-civilised again.

I get mnade when someone sticks a crappy chevy in a ford...This stupid cfl sub forum was pushed upon us in the indoor grow section when it should be a newbie grow sub forum and I am startinga thread asking for pictures of cfl grows in the last week or at harvest with the amount of cfls used and time from day 1.I want to see all the amazing cfl grows a handful of cfl guys claim exist as I saw dozens stated as being on this site alone and I saw maybe 1 decent grow.so post up in the new cfls outcome thread

I can't understand why you'd be angry about CFL's... if you don't like'm, don't use'm, right?

Here's a cfl grow that harvested
8 ounces in 69 days..
1 plant from seed and 2 plants from clone.

Only 15 days vegging
NO NUTRIENTS and MIRACLE GROW SOIL.

ilove a good HPS grow..

But i will also go out a limb and say that people who can't grow with CFLS... well, that is just a skill they don't have.. no reason to bag on CFL growers

CFL growing is the easiest and most convenient way to get started...

and I personaly believe that my CFL grow is BETTER than 90% of the 400 watt HPS grows in the UNIVERSE..

and cheaper to set up and faster yield time with larger YIELD and less invetsed..

HPS IS BETTER FOR LARGER YIELDS.....when USED CORRECTLY.... NO DOUBT... HPS is the way for the experienced grower or committed grower. MANY people who use HID lighting have NO clue what they are doing... and would be just as well off using CFLs

I would bet that CFL growers have more success from germination THROUGH harvest than HPS growers....

HID growers experience all sorts of issues that are irrelevant and non issues to CFL grows.. ie - HEAT issues , VENTILATION issues, WIRING issues etc..

CFLs are fantastic if not better in the following areas
- get started with
- maintain mothers
- small grow areas
- first time growers
- clones
- vegging

Besides Humbolt's grows I haven't seen many cfl grows that use nearly enought lights, and this method is a large force in the grow journals right now.

The little plants do fine under them, up to 6-8" i'd say, but as they get bigger you just can't service the majority of the plant, I've tried hanging cfl's with a bit of window screen around each one them at the side of the plants, and you'll still get burned leaves, how can a 42W light be so hot???

Anyway I used to use all of my time just moving and repositioning lights constantly to keep them close but avoid burning. What a waste of time.

Eventually I just bought the proper lights, and the difference is spectacular. When I look at the room that the plants are in now from down the hall it looks like the sun is setting in the room. That is a sweet feeling.

You hit it dead in the head with that shit. I have 7 30 watt cfl's lighting 4 plants. I spend half my day re-arranging my lights so that they don't burn my plants. but I have to keep them that close to get good enough lighting. I love my plant's but damn! I can't wait to get my mh/hps light!

I do think that they are excellent for the first month of growth. if you keep them close enough leaves will be big, nodes close, and stem strong. After that hit them with the mh light. and you know the rest. I could have probably tripled my yield if I did that. Oooooooowwww...........I can't wait to get this damn light.

7x30 watts = 210 watts / 4 = 52.5 watts per plant =

you should have MINIMUM TWICE THAT -- no wonder you're frustrated.

yeah ive seen alot of people grow with Hps and come out with yields that were just to laugh at !

Or they didnt even finish growing with em because they died on em

CFL's very easy to use... e27 fixture..... good for plants.... Evry 12 year old could grow with these lights... Could a 12 year old even do the elctrical part in the HPS ? i dont think so.... I dont even think a 20 year old could do this correctly without any knowhow at all... CFL's anybody can do it !

wtf is all this talk about wiring HPS? mine came with a plug on the end that fits in my wall socket.

i think the thing i hate the most about CFL grows is that people just can't be honest.

don't you have to wire vanity lights?

Yeah I'm not much smarter than a 12 year old and I run my HPS fine. Plug the bulb to the amp. Amp to the socket. Not too much to it.
