Hi guys i need a little help setting up a fridge grow. this will be my first indoor grow and i have very little knowledge of growing indoors. I have read around the forums and this is the design i have come up with . I have around £100 to work with to get the whole set up going. I also need some lights, i was thinking of using 400w hps lights or does anyone have any other suggestions? all help is appreciated !

One thing to consider- fridges are designed to keep food cool with minimal power. To do this they must be insulated heavily- and insulation works both ways. If you put a 400W light into a fridge you have essentially created an oven. If you take out all of the insulation you might be ok as long as the light is seperated from the grow space with a pane of glass (think air-colled light). Where it me, I wouldn't attempt to grow in a fridge- too much work to remove the insulation, isolate the heat source and figure out a way to provide fresh air. It would be much easier for you to built a cabinet that will hold it all and not bake it off.

i dont have the money to build a cabinate the fridge is what ive got lyin around and i was thinking of making a cool tube to cool the light. also for intake use 2 120 mm pc fans and then use another 2 for outake with a carbon filter attached.

i don't think pc fans are going to push through a carbon filter. I have a 265 cfm and it boggs down going thru a filter. You may have to run cfls. It is def gonna be too hot for a 400 unless you plug the fridge in.

Using the fridges cooling power is going to create a high amount of moisture in there and thats not good on plants or the lights. Cool moisture build up on a HID will blow that bitch

are you planning on using the fridge for its cooling capabilities also??

A cooltube would be your best bet but youll need 4 inch blower to pull the air off the bulb... and also one to blow in on the other side of the tube if you want.

do you think ill be able to manage this setup with a very tight budget of around £150 ? that has to pay for a flood and drain system aswell and intake and exhaust/carbon filter ? also for rockwool clay pebbles etc ?

wow i got no where neer that amount at the moment :(
Have you thought about putting it in your closet? Don't have to worry about heat build-up and so forth. Also, instead of getting 1 400W light and fixture, why not get 4 100W bulbs and fixtures- they can be purchased pretty cheap and still give you the light you are looking for.

Your gonna need some money to grow the way you want....If your learning you can build it with cfls to learn...No sense in spending all that cash to fuck shit up...
But yea either way you choose to grow, your gonna need some loot to invest.
