I'm gonna be setting up a mother/cloning chamber and just want to use T-5 lighting and was going to keep 2-3 mothers and about 6 clones till they root. What would be a good size of light.

A 4 bulb 2ft length setup or a 4 bulb 4ft setup, A might also through in a couple CFL's we will see what you guys think.

Mothers will be in 5gal buckets also.

I have 4 t5 2 foot bulbs, you say that you want to keep 2 or 3 mothers and around 6 clones right? I would recommend going with a 4 foot 4 or 6 bulb fixture, the 2 footers I have are only enough for me to veg 3 plants at a time to about 15-18 inches, you'll need more light if you want to be able to do it right.

Thanks for info. Ya i was kinda leaning on the 4 2foot one but prob won't be big enough for six clones. Just might have to go 4 footers!

I use a Hydro Farm T5 4 4FT Bulbs. I am vegging 6 clones. I plan to keep 3 mothers there permanately under just this light, also plan to place my clones under the same light. I am very happy with it, any smaller I wouldn't be happy. I actually wouldn't mind 6 bulbs instead of 4..

I use a 2 foot 2 bulb t5 but i need new bulbs for it.I used to veg 6-8 plants until i could take cuttings they were good for me.You can get the extra bulbs or go with the 4 footer but all you need is good reflection and you should be fine.I seen people use 4 42 watt cfls and veg mothers and 4-8 clones with just that.

Nice and also I have a hps conversion ballast so to start them for 2 months maybe less under my MH bulb, then move them too the mother chamber to make clones

Thanks Beware, I want too have enough light too sustain good veg growth that would be a perfect layout. And I was thinking of just making my own fixture and buying the T-5 strips is there certain kinds of strips too connect them or are they universal if you buy them in separate strips.

strips? i dont understand. i built my own florous once. i used 2, 4 lamp ballasts and housed them in a 12x12 metal box. i then took the tombstones (the part the lamps spin into on the ends) and mounted them to the wall with the fixture braket they come with, i was able to run 8 lamps from 2 ballasts from old 8 ft fixtures. i housed all the wire leaving my 12x12 in 1/2 inch flex.
home chepo has 6 lamp t-8 high bays...70 bucks.

I use sunblaster T5 H.O. as my T5 of choice. I would go with the 4 X $ very god choice. I use 4 X 4 and 4 X 3' as well for my veg and clone areas. Very good lights, my local hydro does every veg plant under the same ones also their favorite veg lamp of choice.

Actually the 4 t5's I have are all single fixture strip lights bought here: http://www.rsghydro.com/SUN-BLASTER-T5-2-FT-STRIP-LIGHT-p/ss-904301.htm
For 23 bucks each, it costs less to put 4 together this way than it does to buy the regular 4 bulb fixtures. These ones in particular actually come with 6 inch adapters as well as the regular power cords, so you can daisy chain them together easily.
I recommend these for being on a budget as well as getting good efficient lighting.

just bought some T8 bulbs and 2 shop lights(2 bulb fixture) from lowe's all for under $40 :hump:

I put the box in front of the plants so the dogs don't fuck with them

Nice, you should put those plants or lights closer, their gonna stretch like crazy if you keep them that far, like 5 to 8 inches is what i go with on my t5's. I'm assuming you could prbably do about the same with those.
heres what I'm working with right now, since I didn't post pics earlier.
this pic shows the cords that come with the single t5 strip lights in order to chain them together.

this one is a full version of my ghetto setup lol

Master kush on the left, la confidential in the middle and green crack on the right. In the two dirt filled red cups are a couple seeds that I'm germinating and on the far left in the cup thats half cut is a clone I took from the master kush next to it, I'm currently rooting it in water.
Once I move the clones out of this area they'll be about 16 inches tall, and then get thrown into my closet for flowering with my 250w hps.
Heres a pic of that setup.

In it are tahoe og, skywalker og, og kush, and blue dream.
All the stuff I'm currently growing are clones, minus the 2 seeds I'm now germinating.
As you can see I have to say that these t5's are well worth the money spent. Having the 250w hps on 12/12, 3 regular oscillating fans running, and the t5's on 24/7 only costs me about 3 dollars a month to run. So all in all I have 0 negative comments to say about these lights.

Ive been using (10) 2 footers and have been happy with the results. Ive only been using them on 2-3 plants at a time though. Im picking up a 600w switchable MH/HPS in the next week or two, and then I am going to use this fixture for a mother chamber that I am going to build.

That is the exact same ones I use, freakin fantastic lights. My hydro stores sells tons of them everyone that tries them loves them. I kept mine 2" - 3" above the plants. Then I swapped the bulbs for 2700K and flowered with that. pulling 1 - 1.5 oz every month using the closet in a SOG. My LEDs kick my T5s but just for personal use it was good especially when I was just starting out it worked great and on a budget was perfect. Hell fisrt frow I didn't have a fan, exhaust, nothing just a sealed closet and 4 x 4' T5s in a relextor from an old florecent T12 I had to replace in my garage. Over the years I thankfully was able to get better equipment. I swear by those T5s for veg. I ended up buying 4 3footers for a 2nd smaller veg and clone area.
