Gooey waterlogged bud?

I was going over my plant and I found a peice of the bud was gooey, and brown. It was only a piece of a bud and the rest of it was fine. Shed some light for me please, google didn't turn up.

Have you checked it for caterpillars? Did you bust open that area and look for them...or any kind of bug? That's the 1st thing I would check for.
There's a thread called budworm season...worth checking out.

I found a caterpillar in that bud about 2 weeks ago, would it take that long to see that?

Probably not, but the fact that you found a caterpillar before, I bet there are more lurking around.

Sounds like bud mold/rot to me. Are the leaves around the "gooey" area, dying, sorta burnt-looking, and twisty? If so, it's probably bud mold. Take a look around for other areas where bud leaves are dying off, because those areas are infected, as well.


I'm keeping my fingers crossed for ya, that it's caterpillars. But, it isn't looking very good.

Thats exactly what is happening! Not the bud leaves themself, but the fan leaves coming from the buds are dying. Should I try to harvest and save what I can or what?
