GrowLab 80 Setup

Can anyone recommend a solid CFL setup as well as a fan/filter combo for said tent? This will be autoflower only with roughly 6 plants and used to veg and flower. Ideally I would like to use the fan to only pull from the filter and leave the lighting uncooled.

I was thinking for the fan a 200cfm range and lighting 300-400 watt but suggestions are appreciated!

Dimensions are 2'7 x 2'7 x 5'11 I think?

I just bought a couple of Feliz CFLs to augment my veg chamber, here's a link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003FL3D4G/ref=oss_product
I bought the blue shifted and the red shifted bulbs, using the blue now but will change to red once the auto-flowering varieties kick in. I have 2x250 MHs already but wanted more light since temps are low so i added another 125 watts. Right now the blue light is in and temps went up only 1.5 degrees, the red shift may raise temps another .5 degree when I switch.
Your 5'11" is too high for CFLs, plan on 4' being the absolute maximum for CFLs. You should plan on at least 50 watts per sqft which means you'll need at least 300 watts of good light. Maybe a 250 + 125 CFL would work ok. Why not get a MH or HPS light? I think CFLs work much better when they are used to augment HID lighting at the lower levels of the plant - especially the full spectrum bulbs.

If I decided to go with an HPS system instead of the CFL which is what I'm currently leaning on, I'd like to hear opinions on whether or not a 150W, 200W, or 250W would be the best choice for this size tent? With that being said, what kind of fan/filter combo should I be looking at?

for that size a hps 250w would be as high as you wana go really or your gona be having temp issues or with cfls maybe get a dual hood that can fit 2 bulbs?

I was thinking the same thing. I think I'd probably like to go with a 200w HPS (don't really want a MH as this will be a pure autoflower grow and will just supplement with a few bluw CFLs for the first couple weeks). That being said, I've looked around on eBay and whatnot and I can get a 200W HPS system (reflector, ballast, bulb) for like 150ish. At the same time though, my new dilemma is whether or not a 4" fan will do the trick? I feel like something 170-200 cfm with a filter would be ok as long as the room temp outside was in the LOW 70's.

Can anyone recommend a fan/filter combo thats CHEAP?

For anyone thats wondering, you can get a GL80 shipped for like 170 bucks, the light system for like 150, leaving only the fan/filter as the last major thing to get. If I could keep total cost between 400 to 450 it would be a badass setup giving me probably like a Half Lb every couple months which for me is personals haha.

Anyone anyone?

does anyone think that the best route to go would be just getting a 150w HPS if I decide to not air cool it?

150HPS and 178cfm fan pulling through filter?

I dont need heat issues hahaa

I have a couple Growlab 80L's as my veg chambers, I like using the 4' 8-Bulb T5's in each. I recommend adding shelving and you can fit in two tables to grow stacked on top of one another.

A small 4" inline or squirrel cage fan or a 8" booster fan installed in the ceiling will work for each tent, depending on your ambient temps. Don't forget an oscillating fan inside to circulate each level.

I would recommend some sort of HPS lighting if you intend on flowering in the same tent but this is optional (especially if doing a SOG.) If you do get something, keep the watts low and plan to do something with that heat buildup.

do you think that 150 watter HPS would be too hot in this tent if not air cooled? i plan on using a 4inch inline to exhaust with scrubber but i wanted to just leave the HPS hanging without a fan specifically dedicated to it and just stick an oscilatting fan in there

No the 150hps would be fine.I grew with a 400 watt in a 27.5x27.5x5 feet closet All you need is good exhaust and you should be fine.

Anyone else? Im getting mixed impressions from different people. What I mean is I dont want a seperate inline fan for the hps as it isnt aircooled but I will have a fan for circulation

The 150 does not give off much heat.I use one with cfls and temps are fine.If anything you can just crack the door open here and there.

Check out my link in my signature.I'm using a GL80 with 400W MH/HPS air cooled reflector with 4" exhaust fan & carbon filter.I do have to run an A/C unit (in bedroom) during the summer to keep the temps down in the tent.Works great.....Good luck on whatever you decide to do.

Peace

I like it. Can anyone link me to the best deal on an aircoolable 250w hps system? I think thats what im gonna go with. +rep if you can find cheaper than 170!

Depends alot on the ambient temps the box will be in. You can get away with alot more wattage in the fall-winter-spring, in a basement or somewhere the temps stay consistently lower, with plain ducting fans. Depending on the outdoor temps I run either a 400 watt with an open reflector or cool tube, or 2 400 watt, one open reflector, one cool tube, hps+MH for a full spectrum. I don't really grow in the summer months due to temps, high humidity and persistent rot issues, but I have no problems in the cooler months so I plan ahead.

I thought initially that 250 watt would be the max I could use as it was suggested, with even bigger exhause fans. But I use the cheap little steel duct fans that go for $35 for the carbon scrubber, cool tube+exhaust and it all goes well and produces results I am happy with as its rather quiet and I can keep temps in the grow box between 75-82, and its rare it goes above that but there are those days in the fall and spring as mother nature stays undecided.

hi ,a mate of mine just had this problem and he managed to get his 600whps in a 80x80 tent tho hes useing a cooltube vented with a 5'' 300cf fan n filter combo so far its keeping the temps down if need to he can always add further cooling with an intake to when weather is hot,all well so far tho well itwas a few days ago anyway,,lol
