Depending on where you live, you can pick up some 30 watt cfl's from homedepot, i got a 3 pack for 97 c, i have seven of them in my veg cab = 210 watts of light, and the bulbs only cost me a couple bucks.Update on Grow Box Mod and seedling planting.
anyone know if it will get substantially hotter with one (1) 125watt or 150watt CFL instead of using the four I currently have in here?
the math says yes, but I am not sure if there is another factor.
97 c? I may be too big of a noob to know what that means, but I got your point on the bulbs. I will likely do something similar. thx BTW-I liked your root with the Pepsi can... wow!Depending on where you live, you can pick up some 30 watt cfl's from homedepot, i got a 3 pack for 97 c, i have seven of them in my veg cab = 210 watts of light, and the bulbs only cost me a couple bucks.
That was my first guess, but being new, I did not want to assume. Anyhow... what were the K's on those 30W lamps? and was that 30W florescent equivalents or actual wattage?97 cents, lol
Yes we are and our power company gives them to the stores to sell for hella cheapHe maybe talking about the Feit brand. I got 2 if he is talking bout them. They are 2700 k, and 2050 lumens each. Actually they have the best efficacy of about any CFL out there, if we are talking about the same one.
Thanks Bill. I will do that. I can't find those lamps on homedepot.com as cheap, but I will visit the stroe later and see what I can find. The 40W 2,700K CFL lamps I purchased at Lowes were a little more than $10 a pop.Hey easy, if you want check out my journal, i have a small cab like you, plus lots of bud porn
They are usually in the clearance section, because the cost is subsidized by the power company, SDGE.Thanks Bill. I will do that. exactly billcollector. with low intensity lighting coverage is key. HID's are powerful enough to cover entire grows with a single light, but normally not CFLsIMO i would rather have (5) 30 watt bulbs than one 150 watt. Here is my reasoning, with more bulbs you can more effectively spread the light coming from them. With one bulb you are centalized to a smaller area... Not to mention they are way cheaper.
lumens dont add. if you have 3 lights, each 2050 lumens, you have 2050 lumens. the key to this is with 3 lights you can put 2050 lumens on 3 different areas of the plant, which is how you can grow awesome plants with CFLsYea it seems like you can find more deals on the smaller cfl's for sure, there harder to deal with but put out more lumens when added up..
I've read mixed opinions on that statement, it really doesn't make sense to me honestly lol..lumens dont add. if you have 3 lights, each 2050 lumens, you have 2050 lumens. the key to this is with 3 lights you can put 2050 lumens on 3 different areas of the plant, which is how you can grow awesome plants with CFLs
yep, it will be getting it at every sq inch though, so its not a bad thing. i understand there are mixed opinions, but I have seen it tested with a light meter. i think riddleme did it, you know how he likes to play with his light meterI've read mixed opinions on that statement, it really doesn't make sense to me honestly lol..
So basically I could have 10 2000 lumen cfls surrounding 1 plant and it would only be getting 2000 lumens.. Wierd..
Well I'm glad you cleared that up lol, I've been adding them up the whole time.. I just didn't know who to believe at the time, you know how that goes.. Opinions are like a holes lol..yep, it will be getting it at every sq inch though, so its not a bad thing. i understand there are mixed opinions, but I have seen it tested with a light meter. i think riddleme did it, you know how he likes to play with his light meter
