I need to get an electric heater for my plants for at night. I will for sure use a yellow jacket power cord. But I gotta get a heater that has no light emitting from it at night. My plants are in flowering stage and will need some heat at night soon. Got them in the attic. Can anyone tell me where to get one? I know walmart and lowes carry them but I have no way of knowing if they emmit light. Some do while others don't.

The whole idea of keeping the plants in total darkness is a bunch of shit. I have a night light and tv light hitting them and they are doing just fine

the light emitted from a heater will not effect your plants... ever heard of the moon?
A common misconception to think if it's not brighter than the moon, its ok for indoor growing. It's about the ratio of light to dark. Moonlight intensity versus the Sun is some 1:20,000,000 where Moonlight versus a 1000 watt bulb is 1:250,000, to just give an example, probably not accurate, but you get the idea (hopefully). So outdoors, your plants are going to tolerate the moon, but that equivalent of light in an indoor setting could cause problems, like prolonged bud growth, weak wispy buds, and yes, even hermaphrodism.

^Excellent input. I'm not sure of the exact biology behind it all, but I do know that I like to take precautions, whenever I can, especially something that I can take care of rather easily, like light leaks. I grew for awhile, with minor leaks, less intense than moonlight, but it still made me feel a little uneasy. IMO, as long as there's lumens reaching them, it's effecting them, whether negatively, or not. IDK. Why not have them totally lumen-free, when it's so easy to achieve?(in most cases) That ensures there's no unwanted activities going on, from them absorbing that light. I don't know about you guys, but, I'd rather spend a little time sealing things up, rather than skipping it, then sitting back and hoping everything will be fine, while having those minor leaks. Yeah, I know, I could've went years without problems, or maybe forever, but, I certainly feel a little safer knowing that there won't be a problem, instead of just hoping there won't be. That's worth a little bit of effort sealing thing up, IMO. :)

Also,...the moon isn't out every single day. If it was, that'd ease my mind a little more,(when I had leaks) as well. IDK, but as the lumen count rises, so does my paranoia.lol

So does anyone out there have a heater that does not emmit any light in the dark? There has to be. If so what is the name of your heater and where did you get it?

there is no space heater out there that emits enough light to disturb your plants, most have some kind of led on them so you know its on, just slap a sticky note over it, besides they consume alot of wattage, and depending on exactly how low your temps get you might not even need it, I wouldnt use one for anything above 45F. do you know how low the temps get?

In the middle of winter it gets down to 30 degrees. I was able to find out that Lowe's carrys those oil heaters with a thermostat for 39.00 bucks. They have no light to them. Think I will try one of those.

get a small baseboard heater, they usually have a thermostat on them and they omit no light at all. The only thing is you have to make sure you don't get to big of a one. Don't forget they draw a lot of power so watch the wattage so you don't blow your breaker. You can usually pick them up and a recycling store. The risk of fire with a baseboard heater is almost unheard of.
