they just wilted and fell over in the pot

i thought my plants were going ok, but today i went to have a look at them and they both have wilted, with a touch of brown at the end of the leaves... stems don't look as strong.. they are stil in the germination stage standing 4cm tall,(yesterday that is). about 4 days ago i re potted them with fresh potting mix and some fertilizer (a little water of course)....
this is my first grow and i am a little stuck on what to do now?

even tho they have wilted and fallen over they dont look dead yet, they are still forest green mostly... i have tried to prop the less wilted one up with more potting mix.

any advise would be much appreciated!!!!!!!

I wouldnt give them ant fertz till they get bigger(atleast a foot tall). If they are inside, put them under stronger lights. Alot of times they dont get enough light and stretch tall and get top heavy and fall over. Also, a fan on low will help them out too...vibrations strengthen the plants and cause the stalk to thicken up. I hope this helps!

i actually have it outside, and move it inside the garage at night time as it gets a bit cold out there... i always put in into the sun when i wake..... what would you recommend from this? what would have caused them to just wilt suddenly? this will be the 3rd week and there is really no change, but in a pp someone said that outdoor grows dont get as big quickly....
please help, i really want to get this right?

would def agree with kush on the no fert,,you roots arent developed enuf for ferts yet...and it should be under some light not outdoors,,to small for outdoors,,and the fert may of fried your undeveloped roots...

so do i take the bottom off the potts and flood them with water then and see if it helps? if they are over fertilized will that cause the stems to get weaker?

I would deffentily try to flush them.That sounds like the biggest problem.Good Luck..

Yeah, sounds like you put fertilizer too early.

BEFORE flushing, does your potting mix have little "balls" in it? If so, these are water-activated fertilizer beads, and flushing is going to dump even more ferts inbto the soil and do more damage. If this is the case, I would go into your yard(or park, or whatever), find where some weeds are growing really well, and get some plain dirt from right there. move the plants into this and out of the soil with fertilizer that is burning them.

On a side note of stronger stems and stretching, the fan works and you can also brush the tops of the plant with your hands a couple of times a day. Any movement the plant gets wind etc helps to strengthen the main stem, especially on younger plants.

ok great i will do that then, no my potting mix dosent have fert beads in it, i just added it myself......

thanks for the help guys, i had a feeling it was the fertiliser, ill flush and hopefully that will do the trick.....

Without pictures, it's tough to tell, but seedlings generally shouldn't have any fertilizers until the third leaf pair is visible.

You might want to plant fresh seeds. If they wilted, they'll probably be in shock.

The new seeds may very well pass ther old in growth.

I start seeds in 2" peat pots, but don't fertilize them until they're transplanted into one gallon pots, once the third leaf pair shows.
