Need Help Choosing Grow Tent Size, Please Help.

Hello all, I will be growing five lovely ladies this time around.

World Seeds Medical Strain Afghan Kush x White Widow
Dutch Passion Orange Bud
UFO Sour Cream
UFO Lemon Haze
Barney Farms LSD

I will be using 14l Square Buckets in a soil growing medium

Light will be a 400w hps.

What size tent do you think would be Ideal?

I was thinking something at least

36x36x60.

what are your thoughts?

600w and I'm so worried that I wont have enough room.
I am 4x4x6.5
add up your bucket height+ 18 inches from light and then maximum height of the hood/ reflector.
My buckets are 4 gal 13"
Hood is 9"
distance from lights closest is 18"
so take the three figures above 13+9+18
=40 inches
so what is the max height I can grow these campers at?
well if my tent is 78 looks like about a safe max plant height would be 38 inches.
I cant really play with these numbers kinda trapped to this height, but hey I'm using soil.

Hope this formula works to give you an idea on how large of a tent you would like your campers to be in.

A 600 watt light can't effectively penetrate 38 inches.

I conduct medical grows in these tents with a 600w air cooled light. This leaves a small open space around the edge of the garden for ease of access. Pots are placed in saucers directly onto the floor liner.

The tent is 4'9"x4'9"x6'7"

I veg 6-9 plants, 4-7 weeks on average (dependent upon genetics,) and have no issues regarding light penetration unless working with a very stretchy Sativa. I super-crop these to keep them short and bushy.

You don't need 18" clearance from your bulb with good ventilation and can get as close as desired. Watch your canopy for bleaching, ensure a even spread and you will be fine.

To test distance quickly, hold your hand under the bulb to feel for excess heat at canopy level, if its too hot for comfort, its too hot for your girls.

I have a Secret Jardin, also known as the Darkroom. the quality is top notch, very easy to set up, very thick canvas and a sturdy frame. Mine is holding an air cooled reflector and and a carbon filter no problem.

The one I have is the DR100, it is 3.5x.3.5x6

Height is an issue and for this reason I'm working short plants, Pure Afghan and Aurora Indica. If I were growing sativa I would use the scrog method for sure. I might even try that next run with my indicas.

for 4 plants you should run a 600w HPS in a tent thats 1.2m x 1.2m x 2m, 5 plants under 400w HPS will be pushing it....Basically at up to 2m high a 600w HPS will perfectly cover a squared meter which fits 4 pots with plenty of room. Good luck
