Help Auto Accident Left Before the Cop Got There, Am I Fucked? Nobody Hurt, Gave Info

ok so i was literally about to get off my exit to go home i was 5 minutes away, but it was raining hard and i was in bumper to bumper traffic for at least the previous 15 exits. so i was exhausted plus i had a long day looking for jobs PLUS there was no sun that day and it was around 6 so i was just beat. then out of no where this stupid bitch slams into the back of me at like 40 mph like wtf does she not realize were in traffic? to put it simply she fucking totaled her car(it was like a seabring or some old sedan)...i mean like the hood was higher than the windshield she wasent hurt and neither were we but she couldent even open her door or turn on her car on. she was all shook up so i gave her a hug told her dont worry about it...took it real easy. she was like "wow thank you so much for being so understanding....so what do we do i dont wanna call the cops..." im like yeah me neither so she was about to call tripple a but a cop who was also stuck in traffic pulled up and called a statie. i really diddent want to wait i was like right next to my house i was too tired for this shit so i gave her my number my address ect gave her a hug cuz she was shooken up and i told her i actually had to go. again gave her my information she told me she would call me soon. im pissed now but at the time i really diddent care because no one was hurt and get this barley ANY damage to my car. like the bumper is a lil off but i can snap it back in no biggie. some scratches, so later on i get a call from the police regarding the accident asked for my insurance gave it and at the end of the phone call the cops like oh by the way shes taking it to court so heres the case number. i wrote it down but at the time it diddent register because i was just trying to be on my best behavior to the cop. but after i got off i started thinking like wait what the fuck are you serious how the fuck is she going to take me to court when i was just rolling through traffic with my foot on the break and she slammed into the back of me? like what is that? in retrospect i really wish i did stay to give the cop my statemet but i really couldent have been bothered i was about to pass out. keep in mind this is the first accident ive ever been in so i really diddent know what the fuck to do and its been at least 4 years since driving school SOOOO my question is WHAT THE FUCK what should i do? i know i SHOULDENT have anything to be worried about BUT i told the girl i had shit in my car because she was my age and it seemed like a good excuse at the time lol i really wasent thinking much i was just trying to go to sleep. and in all honesty guys i had NO illigel anything on me or in my car or on my friend i had NOTHING i was just exausted. so yeah now im all freaking out if shes gonna try use that against me in court she seemed so nice what a fucking bitch she told me she was from a town which is 40 minutes away from me and she was going to this college to meet her friend (it was last night a friday night) so obviously this bitch is about to get drunk or something i mean WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THIS WORLD how is she going to take me to court like that? so yeah thats whats on my mind. hopefully someone on here with some legal knowledge can fill me in if i have anything to be concerned about. tomorrow im going to talk to a family friend but hes a real estate lawyer so idk how much he knows on this subject. thank you for reading and please help me get some peace of mind...you guys all know it life is rough right now. thanks again for reading and i hope i can know what im up against:peace:

Yeah but no matter what if you are involved in an auto accident you cannot leave the scene. Seriously they hate that shit in court. I bet they shift a ton of attention on that fact in court.

fuck are you serious she told me i could go i mean ive never been in this situation before i diddent know what was okay i mean i was just in traffic and she slammed me? if it felt wrong for me to have left i wouldent have but i really felt no reason to stay. like SHE slammed into my car in bumper to bumper traffic? how do you total your car like that paying attention when cars are literally only feet away from each other? FUCK i dont need this shit

Your fine bro everytime someone hits you from behind most time its there fault, just call your ins company tell them what happen tell them they took your info you was in a rush you had to go. Nothing criminal bout that

are you sure man i would LOVE to believe that was true, shes taking me to court though so whats the deal on that? how can she even do that i should be taking her to court if anything i treated her with such dignity respect and understanding if i slammed into the back of anyone elses car im sure id get torn a new asshole

if she wants to claim it on insurance she'll need a police report.

get one as soon as you can. go with the other lady to the police station, she'll have to admit fault. tell the cops that you had an emergency and needed to get home, and your car was running.

they'll be dicks about it but they shouldn't throw you in jail. you're not trying to cover up the crash or anything.... from what i can tell anyways....

you'll be fine. at most you'll loose out on the insurance money.

heres the thing i dont have her number, i just have a name she never gave me anything and the cop on the phone told me she was taking me to court. i just thought id leave and shed call me saying she was getting towed and that would be that. and i never had an emergency i have no problems of lying to a cop but if i get in trouble for that then i do mind. and no i wasent trying to cover up anything i was just trying to get some food in my stomach and pass out


how do i get a police report?

you gotta have your story down too. don't let them ask you what your emergency was and you stumble your words. be clear about what happened.

"i had to get home, i might have left the oven on, and i had to get home to check" something along those lines.

One, dont take the cop at his word. Sounds like he is giving you the business. Two, she hit you from behind, she is at fault. She wont take you to court, she has no case. Three, you dont have to call the police. If you want to make a claim against her auto ins., it helps to get a police report, but not necessary. You can still claim against her insurance for your damages, and they will pay. In short, you have nothing to worry about. If you want your car fixed, call her ins company or yours and make a claim. Prob have the cash in a week or so lol. Or just call it day and forget about it. Just to put you at ease, I am a product manager for a very large ins. company in Texas. Only saying this to give you some reasurrance that you have nothing to worry about. Smoke a bowl bro lol.

oh and the cop again told me over the phone he gave me the case number so what the fuck how is this happening

im on the east coast too cops here are fucking nuts. however it does put me at ease for who you work for

i'm not saying you lie to the cops. i'm saying you have to say what ever you say clearly.... if you stumble your words, it doesn't matter if you tell the truth, you'll be on the cops bad side.

Why she gonna take you to court bro?????? She hit you theres nothing criminal only ins shit you didnt hit any person RIGHT? Your fine I cant belive nobody else dealt with this b4 you stressing for nothing its only ins shit and dont admit you did something wrong to cause the ACCIDENT! Its her fault you must of heard the police wrong they probly said you should take her to court. And court has nothing to do with this shit its ins company shit, unless its something criminal.
