Argh, so I did one of those horribly annoying things earlier when you write up a post and then click the wrong button in the browser and the whole thing goes bye bye and is lost forever. So I had a long, coherent response written up, but I'm too lazy to write it up again. I tend to ramble a lot anyway, so this time I'll just go over the main points.

Thanks for that WOWgrow im gonna start growing in a snake tank do you think it will work if i spray it black and put foil inside for reflecting light.
Hey piss, thanks for checking out the thread. WOWgrow answered your height question. Type of seed you want depends on how much space you have and what type of grow you want to do. If you're growing in a small area, an autoflower will be your best bet. You'll need an absolute minimum of 20"L * 8"W * 20"H. Is the snake tank made of glass? If so, what will you do about ventilation? (Drilling through glass is difficult / dangerous without the correct tools). In terms of where you can get them, there are any number of online seed banks. Many people on RIU have great things to say about Attitude seedbank, and I used sensibleseeds.com successfully and smoothly.

That's one thick stem you have there,
looks like things are going well.
Really nice looking stem system you've got going, I'm subbed.
Thanks guys :). She is really loving the DWC setup. I can't believe how fast the screen is filling up! I'm really excited about how well she is ScrOGging.

Numbers:

pH: 6.3
PPM: 1050

Good numbers. Didn't change them at all. pH and PPM rose naturally since flush. May have to top off res tomorrow with RO water (possibly RO water + nutes).

I didn't really do much in terms of training tonight; I removed a few fan leaves that were getting in the way, nothing else. I also took a picture of one of the developing colas. She's about ready to start exploding with bud growth!

A simple home-made wooden box sounds like it will work very well. It will be very easy to make to your exact specifications, and should do the job quite nicely. Make sure you have some sort of plan sketched up before you start cutting!

Very very nice i always look at your pictures and i always forget this i s being grown in a pc haha.
Wow, that's very kind of you to say rasta! I'm really glad the grow is turning out so well. My medium-term goal is to optimize and hopefully come close to maximum yield from a single plant in a micro space. We'll see how she turns out.

Numbers:

pH: 6.1
PPM: 1150

PPM is getting up there because of low liquid level. I have RO water coming to room temperature right now that I'll mix up with some nutes and put in tomorrow morning.

At day 34, I'm just about half way through the grow. Roughly 70% of my screen is filled and I'm starting to get some tight bud development on the larger colas. I think it is about time I stop training and mostly switch to pruning. I'll prune actively for the next week or so and then just sort of let her do her thing. Good stuff! Five weeks of care and now I'm ready to sit back and watch her bloom.

Here she is:

Hey guys,

Numbers:

pH: 5.8
PPM: 800

Numbers are good. I topped off my res with RO water and adjusted the pH down a little bit. I'll do a flush tomorrow night.

I did a little pruning, but other than that I didn't work the plant at all. It's starting to get really obvious that she's flowering.

Hello RIU!

Numbers:

pH: 5.7
PPM: 1050

I flushed my reservoir today, so everything is looking good there. The buds are starting to develop nicely. Trichomes are now visible on the buds via magnifying glass and even macroscopically on some of the larger ones! I'll try to get a nice picture within the next few days.

I'm tired. Here she is:

Hi aggreenvln, if I was you now i'd be so excited!! I'd like to pick your brain a bit if you don't mind, but i don't want to jack your thread. I've been reading thru your journal from the start and am very impressed with your knowledge on this. To build this thing from scratch is awesome and a great accomplishment, well done!! I recently have purchased a pc grow box as I wouldn't have had a clue what to do. Its nowhere near built as well as yours but i'm sure will do the job none the less. My main problem at the min is sourcing the reservoir with the right dimensions and a scrog:sad:
Picture.jpg

Quick question for now, do you think it would be possible to get two plants in there or would that be crazy??

Hey 24kgeez, welcome to the thread! I'll answer your questions inline below. Your case looks pretty cool! I have just about the same light :).

No problem man -- I've been hoping to spark up some discussion about this kind of stuff!

My main problem at the min is sourcing the reservoir with the right dimensions
A properly sized reservoir was the hardest thing for me to find too. I am using a Rubbermaid 228100-CLR Snap Case (13.6" * 7.4" * 4.3"). I like it because the lid is raised, hinged and snaps shut. It can probably hold 3-4 litres, but the reservoir volume I am using is 2L. This way, the water level is just below the bottom of my net pot. Another option that I found in my search for a reservoir was a Sterilite 6 quart container. This has a standard lid and could probably hold a bit more liquid, but it is a little wider (13.5" * 8.25" * 4.75"). Whatever you decide on, make sure it fits in your case while it is closed as well as open.

and a scrog
I found my ScrOG screen just walking around Menards (big hardware store). It was in a section with a variety of stackable steel-framed plastic-coated wire racks. The dimensions are just about perfect, but I'm planning on switching to a different screen for my next grow because the holes on the one I'm currently using are a bit small. I would recommend rigging up a quick setup of chicken wire + frame or plastic garden grid fence stuff + frame. Both can be found in a hardware store, usually rolled up in the aisle with fence supplies. Whatever you do, use 1.5"-2" holes, minimum. I guess you don't even necessarily need a frame if you can cut it to just the right size. A mounting solution would probably be pretty easy... I'm thinking about using sticky velcro strips somehow. I'll let you know the details when I get it in place.

Quick question for now, do you think it would be possible to get two plants in there or would that be crazy??
Well, that's really up to you. Honestly though, if you're going DWC + ScrOG, I wouldn't recommend it. I'm not sure how much other strains grow relative to Easy Ryder, but one plant is more than enough to fill this case. If she had more room, she'd fill that up too. You could theoretically put two plants in there, but my guess is all you'd see is less yield per plant, leading to the same if not less net yield than if you filled up the case with just one plant. My recommendation is to start with one, and then after you see how they grow you can feel free to experiment.

What strain are you growing? Have the seeds yet? I'm excited to see your grow get going!

I'm still a wee bit away from starting my grow yet, unfortunately. I've spent all day googling for containers for the reservoir, my head is fried. Once i get that everything else will fall into place then it would be just a matter of getting seeds. I was gonna start with the cheese seeds because they are small plants but i think the autoflower seeds are probably the best way to start. It will prob be a few weeks before i am completely ready to go, i'll start a journal as well, that way peeps like yourself can give me some input into this. I could go through every post on this forum but the only real way i'll know what i'm doing is if I do it myself, as we learn by our mistakes. As your build is near enough exact to the way I want mine to be, i'll be very interested to see what the weight is that you get off this baby. Peace out amigo!

I know the feeling, man! I'm glad you've decided to go for it. I'd check out Attitude seed bank. It's highly recommended by users of this site. I'd be happy to follow along with your grow :). I'm always on the lookout for similar grows that can provide cool things like mutual learning experiences. Best of luck! If there's anything I can help with, let me know. ([6])

Numbers for tonight:

pH: 6.2
PPM: 1100

Numbers are looking good. Water level is good. No modification needed.

I pinched off a couple leaves that were getting in the way of lower buds, but that's about it. I'm just enjoying watching this girl flower.

Thanks endofwed! That wait sounds harsh :(. ETA?

I need to top off my reservoir tomorrow as soon as I can. Otherwise, things are looking good in the technical department.

I opened up the case this evening and was astonished to see that some of the buds and leaves are starting to look fuzzy with developing trichomes! I'll let it progress for another day or two before I take a couple nice macro pictures. Here are two similar shots. One standard side view, and one overhead so you can see what kind of budding layout I'm working with. Not necessarily optimal, but a fairly good canopy density distribution. I'm realizing the importance of good planning in a tight ScrOG grow.

She's flowering quite nicely there,
I think you've done this pretty well for a first grow.

I'm really enjoying this grow journal.

Numbers are looking good. I added a little more than a liter of full strength flowering nutes to top off my reservoir.

I pinched off a couple leaves tonight that were getting in the way. The buds are looking good.

Hi Guys,

I was unable to post an update last night due to getting caught up in epic amounts of homework, but here is the info for this morning.

Numbers:

pH: 6.1
PPM: 1100

Looking good. I'm thinking instead of doing a complete flush every 3 or 4 days, I'll just top off my reservoir with more RO water + nutes as the plant is drinking it. I'll do a complete flush every 1.5-2 weeks. This is much lower maintenance than the current schedule, and I think the plant will do just fine.

I took some macro shots of some of the buds. Enjoy!

It's not too bad. The first couple times I did flushes it took a bit longer because I didn't have my procedure nailed down, but now I can get a complete mix + flush done in ~30 minutes. But my new plan is even easier; it will probably be 10-15 minutes every 2-4 days. So really not bad at all from a reservoir maintenance standpoint. I'm going through my first set of midterms now, and I'm doing okay :D.

Numbers:

pH: 6.0
PPM: 1150

Numbers are just fine. No need for any change.

The plant is looking more full and delicious every day. I can't wait until these buds start growing big and tall!

Day 42 has come and gone. It looks as though it was a good one.

Numbers:

pH: 5.7
PPM: 1200

I didn't change anything tonight. Reservoir pH has steadily declined over the past couple days, and PPM is just about borderline. I'll mix up some more nutes and add them tomorrow night.

Here is a picture.

looking very nice! ive always wanted to do a bubbleponic set up but i thought it might be too complicated for my first grow.

i have some easyryders in soil right now a few weeks behind yours. check out the link in my sig

Looking good! I am considering a PC case grow.

I do have one question:

How is the odor control going? I see you are using a Bionaire Carbon Replacement Filters. Is that working for you?
