it is a nice feeling having big ladies like that... when i first started growing my first 2 indoor plants got to around 5'8", but indoors (and sometimes outdoors) bigger isn't always better. i harvested my 2 HUGE plants to discover that they sadly only yeilded a meezly 2 oz. each in quality bud, and a little trim for some hash. still i was happy for my first harvest lol. now i'm glad i kept at it since my average plant is about twice the yield at a third the size. but i'm sure they could've been better had i known what i was doing and let those bottom buds finish. oh well. hindsight's 20/20 right? with your plants, depending on where you are, i'd let them finish. unless you live in a cold region and you're expecting frost soon. if you live in CA then you have nothing to worry about as you really don't get frost. maybe keep an eye on humidity though as that is one problem i've seen in some regions of CA late in the growing season, and letting your buds mature longer won't mean shit if they rot and you can't smoke 'em

yea mine arent rotting from mold, just getting chowed on by green caterpillars. i hope mine yield more than that
i imagine they should. you're outdoors, where i was indoors, so as long as they have good exposure to the sun they should be pretty heavy. under the right conditions outdoors you can get upwards of 3/4 lb per plant. i only grow indoors for security. if i had land and could safely grow outside, i'd switch next season lol. it's unfortunate to hear about the caterpillars, they can really stress the ladies out. for future gardens, try putting a barrier around the plants. i haven't had caterpillars myself, so i can't attest to it's effectiveness, but the barrier i hear used a lot is to save your soup cans, then cut out the bottoms of the cans too. create a fence around the stalk of the plant by burying the cans halfway down in a circle around the plant. this should prevent the caterpillars from climbing the plant. also before you plant, remember that caterpillars are eggs in the ground first (most species anyway). turn the soil 2 weeks before you plant, and kill any caterpillars you see. also garlic is supposed to be a repellent of egg-laying moths, so using this at the end of the growing season and at the beginning of the spring thaw, may prevent many eggs and problems throughout the season. now that you have them though, cinnamon is supposed to kill them and the smell can keep them away. i use a cinnamon and clove oil spray for preventing most garden pests, and i would assume it would work with caterpillars as well. i mix 1/4 tsp. cinnamon oil, 1/2 tsp. clove oil, and 1/4 tsp. peppermint castile soap in a 16 oz. spray bottle. spray this on a few test leaves first and wait a couple days to make sure it doesn't stress the plants. make sure you spray the ground too, because that's where they hide when they're not munching on your babies. i only recommend spraying the plants into week 3 of flowering, but you can continue to spray the surrounding soil up to 3 weeks from finish. i assume you're late in flowering though, so your only option unfortunately is to physically remove them. you can typically find caterpillars within 10 inches of damaged plants, most likely crawling around on the ground.

there have been plants that supposedly yielded ten lbs outside, and yes outdoors is much more bountiful. their fronts have great exposure, so they should have a nice weight. Good methods you posted and yes, they are pretty far in.
yeah i've kinda wanted to try geurilla gardening... and in the rocky mountains what better place? not that i'm going to try right away (WAAYY too late in the season of course). first how bout a few questions.
1. what type of nutrients do you recommend? i'd like to stay organic, but it seems like that may be hard if i can't tend to my garden regularly. either way, i don't want to poison the earth with a bunch of chemical nutrient salts.
2. have you ever tried using clones outdoors, from a mother kept indoors? i've seen it done, but it seems like this would stress the plants out. this is mainly a concern because seeds are pretty pricey to do large plots like you suggest.
3. do you have some early flowering strains you can recommend? i was considering holland's hope from dutch passion due to it being an outdoor dutch variety, and the growing conditions are more harsh than the CO outdoors. my concern is that this is an indica, and i much prefer sativas, as i use it to treat migraines and indicas don't do much except make me sleepy. can you recommend an early-finishing sativa that would do well in geurilla gardens? i know of course if worst comes to worst i can harvest sativas early for a lighter harvest, but i did this with a container plant due to incoming frost, and i will say HOLY SHIT... the most paranoid high i ever had lol. needless to say, i'm not too eager to harvest a sativa early again lol.

Starting with great soil is most important(ill post a mix if you want or you can look around) and if you make the best, you might not even decide to use fertilizers!!! Also since it is illegal and you will have to hike, its best not to carry and nutes anyways(shows intent), (at least not in large containers)
No i havent, but seeds are easier to transport and not if you breed your own or use bag seed, which is fine.
LOL, There are many mixes, which are good. you would prefer sativa dominant, which wouldnt normally do well in cold. But a sativa dom mix will most likely do better, you may want to look into ruderalis. How low do the temps get in ur area around oct/nov.?
temps are pretty unstable really. typically (this year being an exception), temps by the middle to the end of october are down to the 50's and 60's overnight (sometimes a bit cooler), and the first frost is around halloween. i know the lower nighttime temps would make for some really pretty colors in some varieties, but they can also be stressful if they dip below 60 for too long. i would certainly agree that seeds are easier to transport, and i suppose i could probably get seed from friends or from my own stash, but they're few and far between, whereas i have 6 different mothers of different strains and i would have a much easier time doing clones, other than transportation. as far as the soil, i had considered using Subcool's Super Soil mix, which theoretically you should only have to add water to from start to finish. a couple more questions though. are you using containers? or mounds to warm the root zones? any sort of trellis? i'm simply curious to see if they do improve yield or not.

wow it almost looks like the third one has almost pink hairs... beautiful ladies man you should be proud. i have some pics to post but i don't have the adapter to use my memory card. i'll get them up soon though. i will say i'm a little jealous of the 2 growing seasons you guys enjoy down there, but at the same time the penalties are a little more harsh in the unfortunate event of getting caught. if i do go with my clones for the garden, i would kinda like to see what they can do. my lsd smells like pineapple and turns a wicked blue indoors, so outdoors it should be a sight to be seen i would think
