found this in the woods alive can its genetics be saved?

Back in may, my brother and i planted a small plot in the woods by his house and then he let his end of the care down forgetting to spray them or take care of them at all. i went on a walk today and found 1 plant left with a twiggy stem about 16 inches high(see pic) with 2 small leaves and a tiny fully formed bud on top. the rest of the plant's leaves were presumably eaten by insects like the other plants. i pulled the whole thing out of the ground very easily roots and all. the re-plant was just temporary to keep it alive for the trip home.
sorry my camera sucks and would not focus on the little thing.

this tiny bud top is very resinous, plenty of red hairs and smells wonderful, plus it survived a blistering summer(part of why the project was scrapped). if i were to pinch just the bud leaving a rooted stem and the two leaves, then cut the stem short and root the little lady would new vegetation occur? or would just cutting the stem down and leaving the little bud be better? or is it all lost but still kinda nice that it was able to survive?

please don't send me to a faq and suggest a re-grow this was not a serious grow. i wouldn't do anything serious outside around here and these were not known genetics. this is just a curiosity question since this pheno was strong enough to last all summer with no care and still produce something.

if you think you have something worth keeping, just toss it into a 18/6 light schedule(or 24/0)
you should see new vegetative growth in 2 weeks(or so), from which you cut clones
you don't have much to lose at this point, so no harm in trying

Thats an exercise in futility.
Pinch off that little nug, enjoy it for a couple hours & plant a few seeds. It will result in a lot better return for your lighting investment.

If you pinch the bud, you're pretty much screwed. That's where the new growth will sprout from, the bud itself.
