oven drying without heat?

ok so I tryed this the other day as a quick dry method I just stuck a few fresh buds in the oven with it off, the pilot light was still on so just that its self was keeping the inside of the oven warm so I'm wondering is this a good way to dry bud in general? I can hang buds in their its a dark space and is on the warmer side due to the pilot light being on

any thoughts?

NO NO NO on the oven, WEED is like wine, the longer it cures, the better it is. You will ruin it.

my dude.. don't use heat to dry your buds. You'll degrade the THC.. leaving you with buds that have no potency.

Like Victory said.. you've waited while your plant(s) grew and flowered.. you can wait another few days to let the buds properly air dry.

I'm not going to sit here and walk you through each and every little step.. but if you would like.. I do have links to some really good material.

All of these so called "fast dry" techniques.. don't work.. they ruin the buds.. and sometimes can even make them taste/smell worse.

Your better off.. doing it correctly.. by letting your harvest "air dry".. and then slow down the drying process.. with a good cure.

It's up to you man.. I could care less what you do.. I'm just trying to help you out here.

I'm not "quick drying" it I'm wondering if the heat given off from the pilot light in the oven is benificial to helping it dry, the buds I put in their have been in their 3 days now and are still damp so its not like I'm trying to nuke them and its only a small amount I'm experamenting with

knock yourself out, But You have 2 people that know telling you not to and it sounds like you didn't comprehend what we just told you. It has been tried, let them air dry in a cool,dark,dry room, after they dry, cure them in jars for as long as possible. it will be to YOUR benefit

Once again.. No. HEAT.. is your enemy when air drying your harvest. Experiment all ya want bro.. but I'm trying to help you out. I've been there and done that.. it doesn't work.. and it only makes things worse. It will also trap chlorophyll inside the buds.. once that happens.. there's no getting rid of it.. and even if you happened to get rid of it.. the buds will never be like they would have.. if you would have just done things the proper way.

I'm just trying it with a few buds for shits n giggles the rest are being hung dry in my closet I know better then to stick more then a gram in their but thanks for your concerns guys

Sounds like you didn't even read or research the proper temp and such . It just takes a simple search to get all the numbers you need.It's a waste to post a thread on somthing you was to lazy to look up .Think Mcfly Think !

Whoa whoa whoa slow your roll everyone hes just looking to fast dry a bit to smoke now the rest seems to be drying correctly. I asked the same question on my first grow https://www.rollitup.org/harvesting-curing/354222-super-quick-way-drying.html
people were a little more helpful. While there are ways of drying quick everyone here is right, no matter why your doing it remember that the quicker it dries the worst its going to taste and feel. Good luck! Personally when I did it I let it sit out of the sunlight on my counter for a couple days that seemed to be ok. But good things come to those that wait!

TBH i did a half and half comparison 2 grows ago. One half of yield in a cardboard box about 2 ft above a radiator and dried in a day and a half. Other half of yield was left to "air dry" for about 8 days. Both batches cured for 2 weeks, both exactly the same strength!. The air dried was slightly less harsh but nothing to write home about. TBH the average smoker wouldn't know the difference at all!

Not from acid free boxes...

But you've missed the point. The comparison was between quick and normal drying, if i gave you a bud from each of my drying methods i described, i would guarantee you could not tell the difference.
