sorry but any state law that infringes upon my constitutional rights is an illegal law. there is no such thing as "reasonable cause" to search your house they need a warrant or your invitation. at least in america.....
"Reasonable Cause" or probable cause is what lets cops get way with more than we are comfortable with. Probable cause merely requires that the facts available to the officer at the time warrants a "man of reasonable caution" to conclude that an illegal act is being committed.
The Fourth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution has two clauses. The first states that people have a right to be protected from unreasonable searches and seizures, and the second states that no warrant shall issue except upon probable cause. Probable cause is the level of evidence held by a rational and objective observer necessary to justify logically accusing a specific suspect of a particular crime based upon reliable objective facts.
Basically, if a cop can cook up a good enough story to later convince a judge that they had true probable cause a person has little protection from what should be illegal actions taken by the law. It gives them the 'right' to do pretty much anything if they can prove probable cause or concoct a believable story as to why they believed there was probable cause.
They heard a scream .. even if it turned out to be on TV, or a neighbor's TV, but it made them believe someone needed help so they want in .. and saw your bag or your plants .. or they smelled herb ... so they went in ... you opened the door and they saw a bong on a table (that happened to a friend of mine once) so they came in and found other items ... etc.
It sucks ... but they can do it and they do, do it and they will keep doing it.
