mylar isnt panda or the black white. mylar is silver and when it gets wet you can see through it. its way to thin. black white is way thicker and this stuff i reffered has the black white with the foil infused in layers for added protection

was there foil infused stuff back then.? and the metrs suk. they arent accurate at all was more my point. ive tried a few and each one had diff reading
I make my own light meter with a photo resistor and an ohms meter. I have calibrated it with new light bulbs so I can understand what it's telling me. The meter has to be the same distance from the source to get anything that means anything.

ya and each meter will read diff...homemade is more accurate???
Home made is only cheaper. You still have to figure the readings. The main thing is that you take your reading from the same distance from the source. I use this so I know when to change my lights.

...you will get hot spots from using foil....I'm not going to go through the whole google process, but, you'll find many foil burnt foilage images here on this very site. All in all, your reflective materials used will show at harvest time. You'll not see big yield'n growers using the shitty foil...sounds like the trailer park boys are on here give'n advice again, ehhh?

I would never use tinfoil. I at one time bought acid at that trailer park.

Despite the fact that this may be a fire hazzard, I'd rather hang white bed sheets before I used tinfoil. It's the types of wavelenghs that are being reflected that is important, not so much the intensity.

Hey guys, the question was "can I use this aluminum foil I have cuz' I don't want to spring for panda film?" I'd recommend flat white paint before foil but it's better than bare walls imho.

wondering if there was another book you guys think would be better(recommend).
I like Ed Rosenthal's and Greg Green's books, Jorge is kinda hokey and a little outdated but there's good info there also.

Not only do I recommend the black and white fire retardant reflective plastic,(the hydro guy will understand) I also skirt my beds with 360w flouresent. With an op using 4000w/hps, or more I drop the flouresent skirtings.

2mm Mylar is best. Or they have some new stuff that has a hex patteren that's supposed to distribute light better, don't remember what its called. But if you don't have 20 bucks for a roll, then I don't think your grow really needs it.

If a room was lined with Aluminum foil and tightly sealed, would that help hide the op from the police flying over?

no. aluminum tin foil from the kitchen wont stop it. those IR guns are now available to the public to.

You need some insulation to stop detection via IR, foil will just heat more evenly and produce a bigger sig. Try to setup near a natural heat source such as a water heater or furnace or maybe a barn; new hay, compost, cows & horses all produce heat that could help shield your grow. All that said just keep a low profile, pay cash for supplies, watch the odors and don't tell anyone that you grow then the odds are much slimmer you'll have an interaction with LEO.
