Man, I found the best way to get a job was to get out in the community and do what the older guys do. I would go to the gym and make small talk with the older guys about their occupation. I almost always got asked, "Hey, you looking for work?" Usually though they said they would "tell their friends" about me, but after about 3 weeks of doing that, I got asked to work for this guy that I met at the gym. I ended up working for that company for a years until I got a better job at a different company.
Go out and play golf with these old guys! Go to a busy golf course and play as a single. You almost always get paired up with some business people who are taking other business people out to play golf. Talk to them! It's better than flipping burgers
