Is it possible to show sex early

I have 4 plants and they seemed to have started a little flower inbetween nodes and and 2 out of the 4 plant is showing the flower with a couple of white hairs comming out. the 2 others 1 is showing no secondary flowers but the other is showing a ball like similar to the ones with the hairs but no hairs...and it is also my slowest growing one...maybe it just hasnt shown the hairs yet...

anywayz the weird thing is that im 18/6 and my biggest plant just hit 11 inches today the rest are smaller? could it be budding or can it show sex signs early without putting it to bud.

yes they are showing sex................and that is common when you veg for a while.....get rid of the ones with the balls...

Primordial flowers are revealed based on genetic age, not chronological. Environmental factors change this. Sex can show as early as 3-6 weeks, longer if poorly taken care of. They will always be revealed during vegetation. Never induce flowering before the pre-flowers are showing. The plant will still have to grow genetically and the switch to 12/12 will only slow down sugar production and delay harvest time. We assume males autoflower as a rule and discard as soon as sex is known. The first pic is definately a girl, but watch out for hermies. Males grow faster than females, taller and with farther spaced internodes. Any other questions, or did i get it?

Oh yeah, different plants, even if it's the same strain, will show sex at different times, especially if they're not homogenous strains. Don't expect to know within a week unless you have experience with that strain, or have a sea of clones.

Sorry but thats not true at all.
I have grown every strain i have ever had with and without veg lighting times from seed.
The only difference is that the end plant is bigger or smaller.
Any strain can be grown from seed to weed with no proper veg cycle at all and will start to flower as soon as it has a few nodes regardless of its strain.
Heres a pic of a 3 week old plant from seed that started from seed in a 12/12 light cycle.

ok well 2 out of my 3 unknown strains are for sure female and my kush plant is showing no pre-flowers and its about 2-3 weeks older than my others..


the the one i think is a male, would it harm my crop to leave it in there for another week just to make sure no little white hairs pop up or see if those flowers develop into a more definative ball like shape?

I leave my males in the same room until the balls fill up and begin to droop.
Then i box them up and away and just let them dry up naturally and collect the pollen and store it.
Theres no harm in waiting until you have a definite sign of balls or pistils

I always induce flowering before pre flowering starts. The plant will flower when it hits 12/12 regardless of "genetic age". It flowers when you change to 12/12 because it thinks the warm season is ending and its life is almost over so it tries to produce seeds to continue the species. That has nothing to do with genetic age. So if I understand you correctly and I might not. You shouldn't induce flowering because the plant hasn't reached the "genetic age" that it needs to reach to flower. Well then how do you explain my mother thai I have that has been in a constant state of veg for 1 yr should have flowered by itself already.

I completely respect your experience and acknowledge that, yes you can flower without waiting for pre-flowers. You can flower without doing any veg cycle at all. But isn't that stupid? It limits sugar production, delays harvest time, and when you use a veg cycle, natmoon you admit you get bigger buds. Even Jorge Cervantes tells us that you should never flower until the primordial sex is shown. (Marijuana Horticulture: Indoor/Outdoor Medical Grower's Bible). So, why would you say that I am completely wrong? I have been growing for a year now and see great results. I have never induced flowering before pre-sex, cause Jorge is a pretty smart guy and he said it was bad. Why would I do something like start it earlier when you get smaller buds? Is there a perk to it? Like, harvesting an extra crop every year? It seems that would result in mid-grade, not quality Khali bud.

Yes, the switch to 12/12 will induce flowering. The pre-flowers are called that because it's a sex organ that shows up prior to flowering. You can keep a cannabis plant in perpetual vegetation without ever inducing flowering, but see strong pre-flowers appear. The genetic age of the plant (not chronological) will determine how well it does in the beginning of the flowering stage. Yes, after enough time in flowering the plant will gentically catch up to an identical plant which was kept in veg until it was old enough. It's like giving people growth hormones before puberty. Yes, I may be 10 with a full beard and a rock hard erection, but that doesn't mean I was ready for it just yet. Treat the plants kindly, and always read as much as possible. Our knowledge grows with networking and sharing information, growing on our own and disregarding help only leads to poor quality cannabis. Did I answer your question?

Because cannabis adapts to its environment.
Its flowers have nothing to do with genetic age.
This in my opinion removes it from the standard class of plants box that it has been put into.
A lot more research needs to be done.
We weren't talking about yield factors just whether or not you could flower early,and you can flower from seed.
Other plants will die,cannabis will adapt very very quickly in my experience.
I admit floweing early produces plants with only about 10-15 grams result on them,but if you have 100 seeds,a scrog or sog and you want pot ready to smoke within 10 weeks flower from seed is the way to go for a quick crop

I have 125 seedlings under 4X15w compact fluorescent bulbs and 1X55w tubular fluorescent. They are between 2 and 3 weeks old. I searched this thread because one of my seedlings has hairs sprouting from a tiny bud at its crown and when I saw it, it got me thinking, 'I wonder if I could bud these almost immediately from seed?' I had been planning on budding them when about a foot tall as space is restricted and I live in a one bedroom apartment, but if they can be budded almost straight away then I won't bother vegging them for long, because 125 is way too many for my 4X4 ft growing area.
I do not have any more seeds though, and do not want to create a situation where after harvesting the bud I am left with 125 stems growing from some well established baby root systems that take forever to get enough nodes to re-bud.
My question is, 'If you bud plants from seed or at the age when they only have a few nodes, harvest the buds and then re-veg them, will there be enough leaves left behind to support the regeneration if you left behind a small portion of the bud and how much does anyone think this might need to be?'

i have 5 indica plants im not sure what kind definitely good nugget plants cause i started from random seeds of this good stuff i bought im growing them under an 80 watt flourescent and they are 3 to 4 inches the light is three inches away being moved up as need there probaly 3 weeks old and showing sex. thats good right? I however mixed in a lil bit to much miracle grow fertilizer solution in my spray bottle. after three days of me using that spray bottle is when they started to show is that because the fertilized watered was real strong? now im only using my waater i let sit and watering them with that every three days is this ok? oh i have 9 inch sativas in my window lol houseplnts and there not showing signs witch is great.

Hi there , i understand this is a very old thread but IF YOUR STILL ABOUT im curious to know how this went? 125 plants going in your apartment,f00kin hell,lol.
