Anyways, what exactly do you mean they don't promote branching? I don't think branching has anything to do with the type of light. If you LST or SCROG, they will branch regardless... I am doing it now with 7-8 main bud sites per plant on an even canopy. And PS please share some pics of your grow... I'm pissed that the mods closed your thread... was looking forward to it.

I use two 135 watt UFO's as well as a 600 watt hortilux hps and a few cfl's. I started my first crop's veg stage with the two UFO's. After they got over the mights, heat stress, transplants they really started blowing up under the led's. I found that they make for excellent veg growth and can actually cover a pretty decent area. I mix it up with the hps now for rapid growth. I really like my LED's though, especially since they stay cool all the time. I'd recommend for sure.
 
HEy all! I have been researching LEDs for a while now. I was hesitant, due to all the negatives. Most are due to overpriced ripoffs, with weak LEDs being used. So, on Ebay, I saw a 90 watt UFO, (2 bands, for flowering red and ultra-violet). What sold me was the video of the test of HTG's 90 watt vs. their 90 watt. They set up a light meter in a tent, and the HTG model came to 187,000 luxe, at 29 inches from the LED. The Gotham Hydro Lighthouse Led generated 356,000 luxe. I bought the flowering model, for $190, shipped next day!
 
Sorry wasn't finished my post! I am ordering 2 more LEDs, for uniform coverage, as I will be growing 5 plants in a 4 x 4 tent. One of the LEDs, will be a full spectrum, whiile the other willl be another flowering model! I talked with Vic, by email, and he agreed to give me both for $350. I was very impressed with the quality, and how light they are. So, I am going all LED. No more massive, but heat stressed buds during the friggin' summer. I will start a gj, and we can see the results. I have seen so many happy growers, who have yielded, nice crops with nice, dense bud development. Hope this is helpful, to those on the fence, about LEDs. puff, puff, pass...to all of you out there. pro

You have been duped. Lux is a measurement of how intense or bright a light appears to the human eye. Unfortunately, plants use spectrums that we are least sensitive to, not the ones that appear bright to our eye. Had they run a true fair comparrison, they would have measured photons. Ask the vendor to explain to you the Micro Einstein method of measuring photons and which light has the highest photon rating...... If they go huh? cancel your order, they are using candle power to compare LED lighting and that doesn't work. It is a sham. The measurement you use to compare LEDs is called PAR. It is a measure of how many photons hit a specific area in a given amount of time. That is how you compare LED grow lights, not by lumen or lux.

there should be a sticky on that!!! If we all knew this stuff the rip off sellers would go out of buisness and the legit sellers could lower thier prices!

We have been polling/begging for an LED section for some time now. Most LED grow threads end up with trolls on board, and the only ones that take LED growing seriously are the ones who have tried it or looked into it. Unfortunately, there is little broad support for LED lighting. Hell, I used it and switched to hps... They do work, but it wasn't for me.
 
it would be sweet to have our own section. I'm still a noob i guess.... not sure how many harvests makes me not a noob... but i guess as long as i'm still learning stuff, I'm still a rookie at it! I have not flowered with any other light than an LED. don't know if i ever will try anything else. i know my setup isn't perfect but it keeps me blasted.

And that is all that counts! :) As long as you can grow enough in your set up to be happy, you are doing good.

I have seen some shitty plants under HPS as well as LED... have seen amazing plants with HPS and LEDs

all about growing conditions

There is no need to resort to calling me names dude, I'm merely providing you with knowledge. You can't use lux or lumen to compare LED grow lights. You hardly did your research, as you indicated you had, or you would have known that before making such a large purchase. If making fun of my screen name makes you feel better about it, more power to ya.

I hope your grow is all that you want it to be.
 
hi guys
i am only a newbie grower and have been growing 3 blue cheese under 4 23w cfls, although growth was ok i went ahead and ordered a lighthouse 6 band led, 2010 one. the light is very different and really fills my closet grow well, the pants seem to like it and thats all that matters i guess. i am taking a few pics tonight so you can see a before and after. on the cfls 2 of the plants were always behind the size of the third plant but now they are really catching up so i must be doing spomething right. i for one think they work ok but i have never used hps so i cant comment too much.

Hi Lu and welcome to RIU....

congrats on your new purchase. LEDs and FLs compliment each other very nicely! You don't have to choose one over the other, like some people would infer.

Sorry Serapis, was over reacting. I am sure these lights will be fine, they won the 2009 Growboy Magazine Led award, and have a feedback of 99.8% on ebay. And a 2 yr. warranty, and I hope you are wrong, with no malice from me, bro'!

i still have 2 of the cfls on aswell but im just using them for some of the buds lower down on the plants. youll get a better idea of set up when i put a few pics up.
here is a pick of what they were like on the cfls at about 6 weeks.

Haha, thanks for the words... I never said you made a bad purchase, what i said was the demonstration of a lux meter between those lights and HTG lights was useless, because LED lights aren't rated that way. A good LED light will produce fewer candle power on the meters, because it is producing the spectrums that the plant can actually use. The best way to compare them is by PAR.

I truly hope that the lights give you what you expect of them. I certainly would not wish you malice or a bad grow. :)
