hi guys
its great to see so many adding great info on this thread, i never knew you could bleach the plants so thanks for that (should be ok im at about 10 inches). i have the three plants and one of them is stretching like your man on good morning britain(mr motivator), budding up really well!, but the other 2 lazy buggers seem to be on a permanent lunch break. i dont know if they need a good flush as they are now a couple of weeks into flower, its just they stumped a bit. the ph levels are about 6.5-7.0 so a little high, i only use rainwater with bio-bizz, weve got a shit load of it over here(rain not bio-bizz). so should i flush or not flush that is the question.

Well here are a few Pic’s of my first grow setup using CFL's and a BlackStar 240 watt panel. Space is small 26W X 29D X 37H. Attic grow. Still fighting temps with the LED panel on highs up past 100d with the door closed working on increasing outflow cooling to a 6 inch vortex only have the 4 inch running now. MK ladies are 2wo weeks old vegged under 65K CFL's I have gone to straight LED to see diff's. I am trying to LST these to the best of my ability but growth is extremely dense I wish I could get some midget clones started instead of waiting on the Clound 9 Dinafem freebee's to germ. I may look at trying to get some clones off these whill they are so short. Burning seems to be under control lowered the feeding a bit as the LED was a major increase compared to the CFL power I was giving them even though I can supply the 10 CFL bulbs in any configuration I need.

That is a great looking setup! I really like the pvc CFL holders. good luck with the lst. lookin good so far!!!

Is it the LED or the CFL's that are creating your heat problem? Just wondering because I have a 330W LED plus 216W of T-5's and I don't have temps any higher than 84 degrees in my little growlab. Thats with a 4" eco-plus inline fan and a 105cfm dayton axial fan for the intake. If possible try getting an active intake going, it might help with your temps to have a constant supply of cool air. The 4" fan should be plenty for that small of a space. Another thing that helped me lower temps was using insulated ducting. It costs a little more and its a pain to work with but it definitely helps when you're exhausting hot air.

I've noticed alot of LED's quite the distance away from the plants, is there a reason for this? I know its not heat, wouldn't you want light penetration with LED's similar to that of HID's or CFL's?

I've never used LED's, but am very curious about them since I burn alot of electricity with my 100's, venting, cooling etc

The new generation of LED's are capable of burning the plants in the same way HID's do. The lights don't look as bright in pics because the color spectrum is usually just red and blue (my unit also has white), but the lights are very intense. You can still get really good penetration with the lights 8-10" from the plants. My unit recommends a maximum of 18". keep in mind that it is a myth that LED's don't produce any heat. The actual diodes don't, but the circuitry that powers them does. So you'll still need to vent hot air, but its not nearly as hard to keep the grow area at desired temps as it is with HID's. I definitely recommend LED's if you're not sure if you want to make the switch. I've noticed the growth is a lot more lush and full with my LED than when I used HID's. I have so many bud sites on just one plant that I couldn't count them all, and I just started week 2 of veg 3 days ago. They may still be a little pricey, but I feel the benefits outweigh the cost.

(it was advertised in the master growers edition)..

Its a great discussion, and as all of you know when it comes to lighting it can be an expense change but sometimes well worth it in the long term.

You got that right my friend... Its not soo much the cost that scares me as much as the results.. I plan to buy an induction light in January to compare it with my other HID's, and I wouldn't mind checking out one of these LED's as well..

I was interested in induction lighting myself, it seems real promising but I went with the LED instead. I certainly have no regrets about it.

Well the LED is definately a money saver in electricity even compared to induction lighting.. Maybe when I get the induction light i'll start a journal, this way we both get a good look at the end product? That wont stop me from getting an LED tho, I gotta try it out at some point.

Thanks Stoneylove and OK I do have an active intake which tells me it sucks with a big 8" that I was able to mount inline but it constricts to two or three inches across a 50 inch span with the opening about two inches at the front door bottoms. The four is connected to a scrubber box that I built with I would say a 35% decrease in flow directly into the grow /flower side with a rectangle 4" on the left side I will take some Pic’s of the setup when I am quieting the floor area for noise. I have noticed that the yellowing in the new sets of veins look to have subdued somewhat from earlier.
Oh BTW the BlackStar 240 ran me 250 shipped.

Yeah, the only reason I didn't go for the induction was I wasn't able to find any grow journals of people using them. I didn't want to buy it based on pure hearsay, whereas I was able to see the LED light in a demo setup at the hydro shop, and they had some real big peppers growing with it. If you have any good info on induction lighting I wouldn't mind seeing it. If theres anything convincing enough I might try it out for my next grow.

I'd like to stay under two grand, but I have alot of research to do yet, Ideally I would like the two grand to be able to handle a 4x8 tray cola grow.. which imo is the absolute best in indoor growing (I have other sog tables), but after all the years messing around and trying different things I find the cola grow to be the most ideal (for my taste)..

Grumpy old dreamer is growing with a Kessil right now. haven't seen the full flower results yet though
