Have a killer tip to score me the killer job? Let's hear it.

I'm going into a job interview for a low-level sales associate job at a well-known outdoors retailer in 4ish hours. I need to "Wow" them, because I'm broke as fuck. What kind of tips do you have for a successful interview?

Dress business casual. Collared shirt, slacks, tie is up to you.

This is my only advice: Give your interviewer a firm handshake while looking them in the eye. Nothing turns off an employer like a weak handshake, averting eye contact, or, a felony I guess.

take a shower, shave, put on some smell god ;)

google interview questions, this will be a good chance to go over some of the questions they may ask.

have your own separate copy of your cover letter and resume and dont be afraid to memorize it. iif they dont use it to ask you a few questions you can use it to show off a little and reference it incase something slips your mind

you gotta really connect with the interviewer, ive allways rocked interviews ive had. cant be nervous, gotta be really calm.
sales job ESPECIALLY they are looking for people with unique, quirky personalitys. you are pretty much going to have to sell yourself to them to prove that you can sell their products.

Khaki's and a nice business-ey long sleeve. Ready to own this shit.
Will make sure I break the interviewer's hand with my firm grasp.

I know I can sell fancy, overpriced coats, tents, shoes, and outdoor gear. I'm expecting them to do some role-play; anyone else had to do this at an interview?

If you really want the job wear a tie and get a nice business suit if you dont already have one (helps with the confidence factor and looks good for the interviewer). If you dont have a suit at least where a dress shirt with a tie. I can't tell you how many employers picked me cause I wore the suit and a tie and not just slacks and a polo shirt. Do some reseach on the company and see what their about. Formulate some questions to ask the interviewer based on that and the job requirements. Be prepared to ask and answer questions.

I was told by the woman who will be interviewing me, that I should dress casual. I'm dressed just as I should be, so I think. Asking relevant questions is a good tip.

NO do not put on any colonge. Just smell good of the soap you use in the shower. Colonge can be too overpowering and some people are allergic to it.
Also look your interviewer in the eyes when you shake his hand when you first go and talk to him. That is KEY.
and dont be late, obviously
and if he asks why you choose that job. The first thing you say shouldnt be "because i need money".
say because you love the outdoors yada yada yada been camping since i was alittle boy yada yada yada. then you can mention money but dont make it seem that is your only reason for takin the job

Everything here I gotta agree with, but to add to the "I need money" line-be honest with yourself, speak from the heart....basically telling them why the great outdoors and wilderness around, inspires you to better the people whom you are around. Ad-libbing can work, just don't let anxiety be in you (thinking the fly can be tough)...it's nothing you can't handle though man. I wish you all the best.

Peace, love, rock'n'roll,

Buddy

I was in my dream interview fo rhte "cake" job of all time making school lunchs at the local high school thru an outside food contractor. $45/year summers off and whatever holiday the shcools had that was a day off as well. I had the clothes and the interviews tips in my head and they threw a curveball.

Where do you see yourself in 3-5 years??
North carolina or Colorado!!!

Be prepared for the odd ball questions.

now if you where gonna get a job selling real estate...hell ya i throw $ $ $ every where... with taste of course

be your self, if you have experience even better but thats not to say your not willing to learn.... practice your interview questions & resume out loud

Thanks for the tips, all. The interview went well. The chick interviewing me was cool, and she was from a city near my hometown. We bantered back and forth about growing up in ______ and then got down to the interview. Nearing the end, she said, "Well if we decide to move forward with this [the hiring process], which we probably will, you will hear back from us early next week." It sounds good. I hope it's not too good to be true. I could use some new outdoors gear as well, and I've heard their discount is pretty nice.

Don't shower for at least three days, smoke a giant bowl of hash on the way there with the windows rolled up, when you meet the boss man ask, "do you mind if I spark a jay?"
