Whenever he wants as long as he can control them. They can grow more than twice as big when in flower.

Depends on how tall his Grow room is, and also how big his planters are. There are alot of variables in your question so more info would be better. What light is he useing?

he is using a sodium lamp 250 wati, the plants are 13-14 inches tall (35 cm ),and the grow room is 70 inches tall (180 cm).

Well I have a 3ftX4ft grow room about the same height and 13-14 sounds about right. I was running a 600w light and five gallon buckets on 6 plants. I got over two oz's per plant dry on my first grow so I was happy. My plants doubled in size but that is dependant on the strain. If I were him I would flip them now. did he top or fim them?

The longer he vegetates the plants, the bigger yield he'll get. As Howard pointed out, there are variables so there is no one answer to your question. Some people would advise him to pot up and veg for a solid 4 weeks. Some would encourage him to flip the cycle now. If he is growing from seed, he should at least wait until preflowers are spotted, or the plant has alternating nodes.

The real question is, how patient is your friend? The longer he waits, the more he must tend to the plants, but his yield will be higher.

he was thinking particularly at the space it has in the grow room ...70 inches or 180 cm tall...

Well you will get alot of different opinions on this site because there are thousands of different ways to grow. Some people go to 12/12 when plants are 4-6 inces and some like to wait untill they are 4 feet to switch them. Like I said I flowered mine at 12-14 inches and they did great. You can look at my grow in my signature, they were NL under a 600w light. Have your buddy take a look at that and see if he likes what I turned out with. But remember he wont get as much because he is only running a 250w light.

and you have 10 plants,my friend has 5 plants,so the 250 watts may be enough for what he has...

He can, some people believe that it will "reset" the plants clock so to say and the plant will show sex quicker. Not sure if it is true but I did it on my first grow and it seemed like it worked. It can't hurt.

nice ill def be topping then i checked out your grow nd its pretty sweet did you get the lst down??
I didn't get it down all the way. I only let them curl around about half way around the 5gal bucket top before I topped and flowered them. next time I am going to train it all the way around. GL on your topping. Did you read Unckle Bens topping thread?
