What supplies/costs am I looking at for operation of this size? I'm interested in only the highest quality supplies.

Get a mh/hps conversion, a fan, some ducts, some mylar, and some quality tga subcool seeds

400 watt CMH lightbulb from Advancedtechlighting (google it ) , get mylar for reflection on walls, get some PRO-MIX potting & seeding, complete formula , ( had peat moss - perlite - limestone in it.) , get yourself some good fertilizer ( check around lots of people say different kinds but .. 1 that i know everybody likes is schultz .)
other then that, well when you get the lightbulb theyll also offert the correct ballast for it, the reflector thats just your choice on wich one you want , other then that, get a 5 gallon empty ( to put your soil in it ) and voila . thats all you need.
btw it should cost around 700$ but you get garantee'd quality results .

do your homework on a descent line on nutrients- ask the clerk at your closest shop- General Hydroponics (GH) works well for the beginner and they even use it over in Amsterdam to House and Gardens where its pretty much the most concentrated products but H and G goes by hormones rather that NPK and it will kill your plants if you go too strong while Gh is pretty forgiving

i just recently set up a small grow cab for 2 or so plants with 400w mh and everything i needed for under 500 and could have saved alot more if i wasnt worried bout quality of goods
shop around man u will be surprised how much prices can change from shop to shop

Are you serious, 700$? for a 2 plant grow? U can get a 600w mh/hps setup on ebay for 150$, pack of 5 feminzed seeds from nirvana 50$, soil 5$, fox farms trio nutrients 60$, mylar 35$. You'll need something for ventilation too. I've got 1 6" for exhaust and 1 4" for intake. That'll add $200+. I'd get a
good ph meter too..another $70 or $80. I've got a 2 plant setup and the whole thing ended up at about $750. I
probably could've spent less, but it's money well spent imo. This is what I'm working with -
3x3x6 grow tent $175
250w HPS $150
6" inline fan $140
4" inline fan $100
PH meter $70
Nutes $60
Soil $20
Various $50
By 'various' I'm talking about thermometer, hygrometer, ducting..etc. Hope that helps a little.

I don't need a PH meter being that I live in Anchorage where our city water supply comes from a glacier water supply. I just leave any water out 24 hours so the chlorine dissipates.

Go on EBAY there's a store called HTG supply you can get a tent for around 100. a 400 watt light system for around 130. and a inline fan for under 100 those are going to be your main expenses. everything else you need like seeds, area fan, dirt, and nutes should cost 100-150 all together.
