Games like roulette and craps have independent probabilities, BJ and poker have dependent probabilities which can be exploited (as long as the deck isn't shuffled every hand in BJ)
Thank you this is what I was trying to get across. This is also known as static and variable odds. Stactic odds never change ,variable odds on the other hand vary depending on other factors.FINALLY someone with some sense.

Yes but I thought you were the proponent of the pyramid system. No matter what system you use in roulette, the house will always be a ~5% favorite in the long run (in US tables with 00). The problem with Martingale and pyramid systems is that in a losing streak, you end up requiring larger and larger bets just to break even and when you do, you end up back from where you started. Depending on the system and the casino, you might end up hitting the table limit before you can recoup your losses. The only way to come out ahead is to quit while on a winning streak but if you keep your betting units small in order to keep from going broke on a losing streak, your winnings will be very minimal. I have played with these systems on simulators and most of them suck. I would much prefer to use a betting system where I make bigger bets when I'm freerolling, hoping to catch a winning streak and quit. The pyramid and Martingale system doesn't let you win nearly enough to make up for the risk.

I will just point out to Doc that the pyramid system in roulette is not the same as the Martingale. The pyramid system just increases by one unit for each loss rather than double the previous bet. However, they are both similar in that they don't do anything to eliminate the vig as proponents would have you believe. There is no mathematical system to beat ANY game where previous actions have no effect on the odds..
This is what pyramid betting actually is, and I don't even think the kidiot that posted it realized at the time

Pyramid Betting System

On the other hand normally revolves around such similar concept. For every bet you win, you have to decrease your bet(s) by a certain amount. It can be 1 $ or it depends upon any preset value from your mind. Similarly for each bet you lose, you have to place a higher bet the next time by a few degrees. Basically and thoroughly it depends on you as to how much you can afford to spend in one session.
The other strategy I've heard laughed at (but Cliffey boy would probably swear by it) is the reverse or anti-Martingale. Where you double your bet after each win, and go back to 1 unit after each loss. Seems even less sensible than Martingale.

easiest way to make money at a casino is pyramid betting on a roulette table.you pretty much cant lose.it works better at an online casino tho cause you get more spins per hour.

you pretty much can't lose, and if you play online where you get more spins per hour you can't lose even more, duh.

yes it was me that started this whole martingale arguement but like i said im not saying its fool proof or even that anyone should use I simply stated that i have used it to make a profit in the past.I also stated that i dont play tables much or really at all.Im a poker player so i know about "pot odds" so yes i agree its is dumb to risk 512$ for a potential win of 1$.The only reason im even still active in this thread is because thedic08 decide to pipe up like he was gods gift to math or something.I just wanted to prove him wrong.

exactly i said you pretty much cant lose meaning you can and do lose LOL my god your mother should have swallowed you

one of the casinos where i live doesnt use an automatic shuffler, they reshuffle at the end of the shoe, however they do "cut" the deck so you can't tell what cards aren't going to be in play.

My Casino does 100's of millions in business each day, people regularly make bets in the Billions of dollars. Total Bets placed in the last year are equal to 4.2 Quadrillion Dollars. 2 years ago the US people lost 2 trillion dollars to this casino in less than 3 months time. Its the biggest casino in the world by far and there are tons of people screaming and yelling and lots of screens and flashing lights and bells ringing.

Its not open on weekends or holidays.
