VENTING QUESTION.....help

Hi, I have 10 plants under 1000 watter under a tent. The tent is in a room. I am not venting outside the house, but instead venting out to the room. The room is much cooler and has fresh air.

My tent is 7x5 ft, I am planning on using 6 inch 440 CFM carbon fliter exhaust fan combo.

My question is what size air intake should i get?

thanks,

Use a passive intake. The tent should have options in a couple of spots. You'll also want to get a fan controller. You can lower the fan speed like a dimmer to quiet it up some and to reduce the negative pressure in the tent. I have a 4 x 4 and my 440 cfm is set to about 1/3 power. I use a single 6" intake vent, with duct and a diffuser on the outside to keep light out as much as possible. I also put a 90 degree turn in duct after it enters tent to further reduce light leaks.

You may want to go with two open vents if you run the fan full speed. I'd experiment with it until you think it is right. It should create negative pressure, so tent walls should be slighlty pulled in against the frame.

Unless the tent is in a huge room you are still going to have problems with heat around the tent if you are just venting outside.

I would consider some sort of fan to bring in cool air from a window or opening in the room or a hose to vent the hot air outside the room. A 1000W puts off quite a bit of heat.

yup, passive intake is all you need. But as others said, the room will heat up a lot more than you want real quick.

Hi, thanks for the info. Where can i buy a 6 inch fan controller? I was thinking of getting a 6 In 160 CFM In-line Duct Fan at home depot for the intake.

I will try one first and if i need a second i will have to do.

thanks

check on eBay, they go for around $27. I solved the heat problem in my room by adding a window AC. I exhaust right into my bedroom and the temp in here averages about 76.

cool thanks, it must be hot in your area. here in canada it is almost winter and the temp of my room is 60F. If it gets too hot i will just open the window. The trick is I will have to open a small amount because i dont want people peeking in.

Would a 6 In 160 CFM In-line Duct Fan at home depot be good enough for my intake ?

thanks
