New MMJ garden w/ possible issues

Lights: 4' 4bulb Hydrofarm T-5 @ 6700k 20/4
Space: 4x4x8 Grow tent
Strain: Sour Diesel from clone (Medical Co-Op)
Heat: 70*-82*F
Soil: MG Organic (eww I know)
Nutes: Canna Terra Vegga, Canna Cannazym (only one watering)
Issue: Plant seems to be getting rougher to the touch, perhaps getting darker
green than I am used to and the leaves are drooping and curling a bit.

Hello all,

I am new to the gardening scene so I am a little confused on what to think about my plants. It is hard deciphering what the problem could be. I have a two Sour Diesel clones in 5 gallon bags. They are in Miracle Grow Organic soil ( I know bad choice ), and I have not given them any nutrients other than one watering with Terra Vega by Canna, and Cannazym by Canna. About three days ago I topped them both because my other three clones are a bit smaller and I did not want the Diesel's over growing the newbies. I do not know if this has anything to do with it, but figured I would mention that. They have been getting rougher to the touch, darkening in color, and curling a bit. I see that it could be a number of things, but I am at a loss which one it is. I do not over water, if anything I may underwater, but I have never seen the plants droop from lack of water. I barely have used any nutrients, so other than the time released crap in the MG, its not getting that much. I do not know if the nutrients in the MG would cause this, but maybe. I want to catch this early so I do not have a bigger mess. I took some HD pictures which are a bit large so to keep the native resolution I hosted them on imageshack.

Do you think perhaps they were topped incorrectly? Or is it nutrient related? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Also, I saw a tiny little fly so I was going to take measures to kill it. I have Azamax, and if anyone has used this, what would you advise for proper dosing? I do not trust the bottle.

Thanks!

What's the soil Ph and how are you testing it?
I don't know what PH is. Last time I did this we never had a problem and never checked PH. Although last time we used sunshine# 4. What would be the most effective/cheapest method to test? Also I have been watering with well water, perhaps im just throwing the PH way off.

well water should be fine but i would still test is it needs to run from about 6.3-6.9 aim for like 6.7 or 6.8
Well hopefully they can stay this way for a couple days. I will have to go get a PH meter and such.

Can anyone advise a thrifty, accurate meter? I see a lot online ranging from 12-300 dollars.

You'll want to get both soil and liquid testers. Imo the best cheap way to go is to get a 15$ analog soil meter, a 5$ capsule-type soil Ph test kit to verify the meter's readings once in awhile and a 10$ liquid Ph test kit for testing water and mixed fertilizers.

It is @ 6.5 PH and I used the capsule test. Waiting on the tester I ordered. I assume the capsule test is fairly accurate and if so would not explain anything as its not locking out anything at that level. Any other ideas? They are very green, just kind of growing deformed and curled a bit still.
