MAX PPMs?

anyone know what the max ppms for a sativa in a hydro system should be? i've followed the batanicare feed chart so far but should i be bringing the ppms higher in the end? will this add weight or just waste my nutes?

YES you should absolutely ne increasing your nutrients throughout the whole grow until 2-3 weeks before your plants are done in preparation for harvest. You can find feeding schedules online and on this website. Max PPMs are going to differ from plant to plant. Each sativa as well as indica will be different. One thing I will tell you though is that if you are not using CO2 than you will see a noticeable decrease in the extra nutrient effectiveness as you raise nutrient PPM more and more.

well im at 1400 on the first day of week 6 and there is no burn or deficiencies to speak of. should i be trying to get my ppms way up like over 2000 or should i just continually bring them up 100-150 a week? has anyone maxed out their plants at more than 2000 ppms?

i think my girls could take a ton more ppms right now...should i bringing it higher ...ending my cycle at near 2600 or should i bring them up.. to like 1700 and stay an that area ...as the feed chart indicates

Don't listen to anyone suggesting higher ppm rates than 1700....

I grow in DWC and noticed that even if you don't get any nute burn you can still be feeding too much especially in flower. I've noticed in the past that when I increased my PPM far enough to not get any nute burn the bud development was decreased compared to keeping the PPM lower. Keeping the PPM lower seems to have an increase in bud growth. I don't even go over 1000 PPM. I harvested 6 oz. on my last plant. In my experience it's best to keep the nute mix well balanced depending on plant and size. Not too little and not too much. Find the sweet spot.

the best answer here was one of the first. It all depends because it's not an issue of a specific PPM that is max, as a question of how acclimated your plants are to your current ppm and what they could handle as an instantaneous increase.

For instance, a plant being given 800ppm who is suddenly moved to 2000ppm will not respond positively. The plant who is at 800ppm, then increased by 200ppm a week (or some other more gradual increase) could happily take more than 2000ppm at some point. Think of it as exercise for people. For one person a mile might be a challenge, for another who has been conditioning themselves 5 miles might be a piece of cake. Also keep in mind that to use more nutes, a plant needs to be growing faster. To grow faster it needs infrastructure (stems, roots, leaves), as it builds this infrastructure, it will be able to utilize more nutrients.

heh save yourself money and start at 1000 ppm, if you notice the ppm drop they need more nutrients and then you raise it. i use to run 2.4-2.6 and it was a waste. you need to see what they want. if they are taking more nutrients you will see the ec/ppm/tds drop. If they are taking more water you will notice that the ppm/ec/tds wont change but water level is going down. just monitor the intake and keep that res clean.

i just peeked my Durban Poison OG at 1600PPM and it started to burn a leaf....pulled back down and problems are now gone....1700PPM seems to be a strong limit...also the smell of the ferts in the bottom of the drain pot were also present = in a pretty hot mix of goodies hehe.
