Any Help? [Pics]

Hello friends.

So my babies are about 8 weeks into veg. This is my first grow. I started out w/ 3 plants under 3 42watt CFLs. Got about a month in and picked up a 150watt HPS home security light. Took it out of the case and jerry-rigged a reflector. At this point I've got the HPS going with the 3 CFLs providing supplemental light to the sides of the plants.

In the beginning I was using no nutes (I read to wait at least a couple of weeks), then began noticing some yellowing of the lower leaves. My first instinct was an N deficiency. At about 3 weeks I began using PBP grow at 1tbp/gal. They seemed to pick up, and the yellowing slowed, later started clearing up.

I'm getting ready to switch to 12/12 and see if I've got any females. I just started them on a 50/50 mix of PBP grow and PBP flower(soil) at 1 1/2tbsp/gal to bring up the P and K levels. I noticed the yellowing of the lower leaves has returned and is pretty bad at this point. Any ideas? I'd hate for this to just get worse when I start flowering. Thanks.

Well how often fo you water? And how often do you feed em nutes?
I don't stick to a strict schedule. I usually feel down into the soil to check for moisture. If it's dry about an inch and a half down I'll water. Nutes every watering.

I will say, though. They sometimes go 4 to 5 days without water before I feel they are dry enough, but I figured that's just normal.

nice root beer reflector
anyways plants are to clos to lamps
I swear for every piece of good advice on RIU there are 20 wackos spewing the most ridiculous, ill-informed shit I've ever read. The CFLs aren't burning the plants, bud.

blonddie,
You say no nutes? It's odd that the issue started before I was nuting.

I'm guessing she was meaning no nutes while flushing...perhaps assuming nute burn or something.

thats because the plants are not recieving the natural nutes from the soil... due to the roots being locked up from watering either too much... and watering with Wrong ph... if your using tap.. or any water... PH to 6.5.. then water it...

Do this now and it will fix everything.. i went through the same shit,.., and i swear that plant looked EXACTLY like my plant.. same looking growth..

Ph 3 galons of water PER galon of soil. Ph to 7.0.. use all the water to flush the soil completly.. then from there on.. start using 6.5PH water I promise you those plants will get fixed and will show amazing result after the flush... u can check out my journal... before and after.

What soil is that?? if its not fox farm... or any nuetral soil... this flush will fix ur problems..

Ur lights are not too close... those CFL's dont emit enough heat to burn ur plants.. i had mine 1/2 inch away.. never had a problem...

ur plants are too young.. and the plant doesn't require nutes .. as the soil alone has small % of concentration of nitrogen and its all it needs... right now the reason its burning is because ( assuming no nutes) ur plant is feeding off its self to grow... because its not getting anything from the roots.,, (because thier locked due to wrong PH)

Goodluck let us know what happens!

Okay I have a brown thumb and have killed my plants every way possible and that is deffently a N-def. Its not uncommon at all in plant that are that size under CFL. As long as you work to correct the N-def with nuts SLOWLY you will be okay and flower some good bud. Just don't over correct throw off the PH get lock out and kill the plants. Everything in moderation. They look like they have a potential. Good Luck

I hate to be the odd one out on this one you guys but those are 42 watt cfl's. It seems to me the worst damage on the plants are all closest to those lights, wouldn't you all agree? Now normally I wouldn't say this except that I recently just saw the same thing happen to a friend of mine. Believe it or not, certain CFL's can get too hot for the plant, especially with an HPS present. To find out for sure hold your hand near the bulb if your skin starts to get hot then you may actually have them too close.

Can't wait to hear the bitching out I get for this one ...

I've never had a N deficiency working under 42w CFL's and i've grown close to 20 grows, some of them having up to 50 plants a piece. Maybe its just me ...

Thanks a bunch for the replies.

I do use tap water that is run through a Pur 3-stage filter. It comes out at around pH 7 according to my chemical test. After mixing in the nutes, It's right around 6.5-6.2.

Do you think possibly my nute concentration is too low? PBP recommends 2tbsp/gal for an adult plant. Thus far I've been cutting that in half to be safe. Thoughts?

thats your problem man.. stop using nutes. Thats why ur plants are burning.. they cant take it. your plants dont need N-P or K... thier perfectly fine right now. let them grow about a foot or somthing
then start the nute using. at like 1/4 of a dose
and move up everyweek.

you should really listen to the advice and flush man... it really does help... and shows dramatic results in like 1-2 days.

I'm not saying your advise is bad, but the plants are almost 9 weeks old, stand about 13-14" tall, and they're going to 12/12 tonight. I find it hard to believe they don't need nutes.

I'll flush to see if there is any improvement.

Just feed them after you are done flushing with a 1/4 dose of the nutes to see if they start looking better. Personally, did you check your lights with your hand?
