4x1000W and bolster your spectrum with 4 240W LED's to pump up the red and UV. 9x9 is huge and it going to be very costly light-wise. I have a 4x6 flower room and I have 1000W HPS and a 500W LED, and that will barely cover what I need. My veg is 4x4 and that has a 1000W MH. Thats 40 Square feet under 2500 watts of light for 15 plants. Your talking double that size, therefore double the wattage. 5000W - 4000W in HID whichever way you like it (4 1000's, 7 600's), and 1000W in LED. I don't want to start a pissing for distance argument about LED and HID and all that bullshit, but simply put, you want the best yield, and thats my opinion on what I would want if I were in your shoes. Good yields seem to come from both good skill and good lighting. Heres the flower setup 1000W HPS above, and 500W LED on a side angle. Plant rotate every 48 hours. They are 10 days into the 12/12, I saw pistils after 3.5 days on my bigger girl.

ok yes yield depends on grower but thats NOT just that....sorry theres more to it then that.............Hes saying he has a 9x9 area and wants to use a single 1000w light so it dosent matter how good a grower he is that will affect his grow so basically what im saying is ............... your answer is in no way helpful

Any successful grow depends on more than just "grower's skill" or "plant genetics" or "light" or "CO2". For optimum yields you definitely need a strain or plant that is known for heavier yields. Fact is some plants just produce more than others. All environmental factors play a role in yields and to say one particular aspect of a grow is solely responsible for big yields is simply foolish.

And now for something completely different.
Use a 600 for each plant. As Serapis suggested, scrog em 3'x3'each. Three down each side gives you a nice 3' walkway. Mount casters on some 1/2" plywood and they're mobile. Makes it easier to get to all sides. RDWC would guarantee massive yields with a short veg time. Hell, with two identical rooms, one could veg while the other flowers. You are allowed 6 in veg also, right?
On another note, anyone who thinks vertical won't yield better than flat has obviously never tried it. I switched from flat to a stadium about 5 years ago and saw a 35% increase in yield on the first run. It's only gotten better since.

So we ended going up with 2 600hps for the flower room and 1 600mh for veg. We got a 650cfm blower for the flower and a 400cfm blower for veg. Dual 1000 would definitely been the way to go but my friend was low on cash. We plan on doing a perpetual. With plants in groups of 2 being started every 2 and a half weeks. Thank you guys for all the input, there was alot of it hahaha. But i will keep you guys posted on the progress. Here's a couple pics. Flower room on left and ve on right

maybe u can help me? i have a 4x4 tent with a ebb&flow system on a 4x4 table. im not sure witch light to run? i have a 6' blockbuster and a 600w system in hand, im thinking about growing 16-20 girls. would a 1000w light be better or stick with the 600? i have time because my seeds are not here yet. if i go with a 1000w, i will have to buy a bigger fan and filther as well. i also have 2 four foot t5's any help will be thankful
