stand to inherit about 80 acres of land...

Hi all, so this farm has been in my family since before the civil war and I stand the best chance to inherit it. It is roughly 80 acres, there are 2 barns on the property and 2 houses. I think y'all know where I'm going with this.

How should I go about growing? Outfit one of the barns or houses for an indoor grow? Build a greenhouse? Or grow outside? I'm basically looking for someone to paint me a best-case-scenario picture here because my only experience so far is closet growing, no more than 3 plants at a time. I've heard about soil replacement stuff, like digging huge holes in the ground and filling them with high grade soil mixture.

Thanks

yes you can keep a greenhouse warm, it's called a heater.........

I helped a friend drag two pot belly stoves into his 60 foot greenhouse. I kept it 60 all winter long, and he ended up only keeping one going at a time, I was sick to walk through 2 feet of snow into a 60 degree greenhouse full of plants..Good luck JR

plant outdoors man, free light and for you there are no space constraints, you could have plots all round the show!! Also get an indoor set-up, there is nothing better than constantly having a few babies to look after!

do both, have some chickens for eggs and manure, a cow , couple goats, green house for more than just ganja, get some honey bees, few good rifles, maybe local spring water. build a nice cabin. brew some beer and wine, when you make some cash a 4-wheeler and some other nice toys, get of the grid at least mostly.
sorry i'm dreaming wish i had some land on the horizon, not for years but i guess i will your just sounds better. being a farm and such.
and yea greenhouses have made some leaps and bounds from the days of glass walls.

If i were you i would have a go at every kind of growing grow outside during the grow season. Go indoors during the winter and use the green house at all times. You should not limit yourself to one kinda of growing find out witch one you like best!! Only way this can happen is with exsperiance and eather way free bud. i would just get a couple mother plants to get clones off.

If I were to be in your situation, I would probably grow outdoors. I grow for personal use only, so I would not need many plants. Plants would be spread out around the most secluded portion of the property. Growing them close together is a sure way of getting them spotted from the air. I'm guessing probably 6-10 plants.

it would be fun to experiment with different outside grow methods. An outdoor lst would be sweet, as would an outside scrog. Remember that outside light is awesome, but im sure the insides still get dark; it would be fun for comparison anyway.

How about a standard bush grow with reflectors circling the base at 15 degree (rather find the appropriate angle for directon of sun) to create a solar oven type of deal on your plant. Haha im just dreaming now :)

DO IT ALLL BRO! lol.. just like everyones saying.. if u have the funds do it ALL and get off the grid with those solar panels.. if you get a windmill put up where i live they pay you $120,000 a year, per windmill, just to have it on your property!!! Greenhouses have DEFINELTY made some big leaps over the years man so i would look hard into that for sure. Outdoor growing is a no brainer, grow as many as you want and spread them out, doesn't cost a thing. ALWAYS try and use the sunlight as much as possible.. if i am growing one plant indoors i would be bringing it outside for those few hours of sunlight.. but of course you dont want to do that with an entire grow, you can bring bugs in and stuff, just saying nothing compares to the sun! Indoor growing, also a no brainer, do up an entire basement or something, and compare yeilds over time, you'll figure it out. I am a complete newb so i dont have much credibility for any exact FACTS, but i hope this helps. peace

do you have the advantage of living in a pretty rural environment? rather will you be? also do you live in one of the more ganja friendly states? if growing directly outdoors i wouldn't ever put them on my own land. some purists will bitch at that statement but you can grow on someone elses land without to much worry and they wont be in trouble if they get caught, it happens around my area all the time the leo just takes them. or if your pretty rural and have some money to spend a greenhouse is awsome. they make them opaque that lets in the good sunlight and filters it slightly so you can't see in. this is not a big deal as lots of greenhouses use this type of stuff for their walls. it wouldn't be cheap to have a good setup. good greenhouses require some sort of climate control which can be complex for nice sized houses used most all year to just big industrial fans for low tech seasonal grows.
if i were you (i'm not i know) i would turn that old farm into a farm again. even if you just have a big organic garden-fresh veggies, and can the rest. a few animals that give back-some hens for eggs (fresh eggs rule) things like that. it all seems like alot just to grow but i would make it my way of life. if you can become self sustaining that is probly the single best situation you could be in at this time in the US.
all the gardening and animals produce waste that can be used to make killer compost. plus it will cover what goes on behind the scenes.
maybe i'm just dreaming wishing i was in that situation. but whatever you do be quiet, make sure you know a bit about wiring electric and don't sell anything from home. peace.
