So all my plants went hermie

My first hydro grow has turned banana shaped. I have 25 Sannies 'Madonna' in the 4th week of bloom and most have most have turned hermie. I'm pretty sickened. :wall: It was a light leak that caused it Im sure, or possibly genetics or shock.

I pulled off 1 developed nana, but there are loads more balls, mostly mixed in with calyx's. I'm almost 100% sure they are hermie, but I'll leave them for a while to be certain.

Now for the decision whether to keep them or not. There is only 5 or 6 weeks left and is it worth the electricity and nutes to leave them finish flowering? I'll be vaping the bud so seeds shouldnt be too much of a problem.

Leave them finish their thing and vape the hermies?

Or

Send them to the compost heap right away.

get some Dutch Master Reverse and hang on to them.
You'll have stray pollen in your grow room though so you'll have to wash it all down before your next grow.

I can't get the reverse where I am located unfortunately. Thanks for the tip on the pollen, I'll make sure of that.

true, but unfortunatley it cannot undo any pollination thats already happened, it just kills any male flowers and stops them from forming again.

Can you get us some pics of your plant please? It will help us tell you what you should do.

I ended up ditching all of the plants, there were more pollen sacs than buds so I thought it not worth it to continue. My poor plants had a hard time in the first few weeks of veg , with almost freezing temperatures and a light leak probably causing them to shock and freak out. I'll live and learn.

Better luck next time :wall:

Id be happy either way.
Hermi or not.

I have 10 plants left from the same mothers that were put straight into 12/12 and they are hermieing too. Nowhere near as badly as the first lot, just a few tiny nanners.
I fixed a small light leak that may or may not have been the cause. I am just going to pick off whatever little nanners appear until harvest.

For my next grow

I have the option of going for a different strain, should I get rid of the mothers of the hermies and start again from new seeds? It may not be worth trying another grow with the same genetics Im thinking.

I've never tried it in a preventative way, but from what i understand and have seen yes. You'll require more than one application of it though.

flower a mother or 2 out and see if they go hermie, make absolutely 100% sure that youve got no light leaks and that the dark period is not disturbed in any way. That should clear up if its genetic problems or enviromental problems.
