Straight, thanks for the advice. It's not necessary to take them physicaly out of the jar right? Just opening it should be enough?ok people u dont wanna over dry ur buds..its a common mistake made by cannabis growers world wide..u want to dry till ur buds are dry and ur stems STILL BEND (when its done curing it should snap) then throw it in mason jars and open it 1-2 hours a day, its called burping ur buds. When u burp u take all ur bud out of the jar onto newspaper or whatever and let it sit for a hour or 2 until the bud is crispy again..then put it back in the jar till it gets moist again, about 12-24 hours. When u put bud in mason jars the humidity in the jar rises from the bottom up and spreads the moisture left in the stem to the buds so if u dont burp ur buds (open the jar) it will eventually mold so u gotta be careful..a good cure is not a week either thats a impatient cure a good cure lasts 4-6weeks.
Its hard to say...Its all about how comfortable you are with the mositure level of the bud. Its not that exact of a science...but its easy to let it get too wet and have mold.Alright straight man. Thanks a lot for the tip...good to know. You have any indication to when its time to paper bag the bud, and also take it out?
no its not necessary but i do it just so they get alot of fresh air when i "burp" emStraight, thanks for the advice. It's not necessary to take them physicaly out of the jar right? Just opening it should be enough?
Thanks bro...you've been a lot of help. My girlfriend is trying to tell me curing doesn't make a difference. But wtf do women know haha. Its hard to say...Its all about how comfortable you are with the mositure level of the bud. Like i think we've mentioned before....hang dry until the buds are slightly crispy, and the stems are slightly crisp, but still bendy. Thats when i bag, until the bud re-moistens...and then re-dries (about 4-7 days).
Thats sorta my rule of thumb...if its dry enough to smoke a joint, and the joint burns evenly without burning too fast, then its time to cure in jars.
I prefer using Ball Mason Jars, in the 2 quart (1/2 gallon) size. They are big enough for large colas, and theyre cheap. About $12 for 6 of em.
Cure for at least 2 weeks in jars.
Alright tight man, thanks. Do you feel like the paper bag helps?no its not necessary but i do it just so they get alot of fresh air when i "burp" em
I know right haha. Yeah I know it's important. I have never grown before...this is my first time. But I have a strong gardening backround you know, and it's still a plant. Yes a glorius plant...but still a plant.lol ur girlfriend aint even knowing..a good cure can make a difference but to me its mainly how u grow it and genetics..but a good cure make's those trichomes pop and the smell and the taste gets a little better
Really? That much drying? I fugured after all that the bud would be well enough past the "bendy stem" phase which is when I gather you should start curing.umm paper bags thing works but i usually use a plastic lucky's bag and once the humidity goes back into the buds i re hang em then do it again a few times..ok so u said ur ganna have ur fan blowing ur buds, NO not a good idea u want a fan in their but dont have it blowing ur buds it could make em dry to fast and maybe do some other damage..so heres what i do..i cut my plant and hang it the first 2days then i start trimming off all the leaves or just pulling em off the plant (thats y i wait 2days to trim) the leaves just come right off the plant usually..then after 3-7 more days hanging (depending on the size of the buds) i start the paper bag or plastic bag thing..i do that for a few more days then hang em for 2days straight then start the curing process..curing last 1-6weeks for me but a good cure is 4-6weeks
Thanks man. Good to know. I mean how fast it dries as far as chlorophyl goes doesnt really matter, right? Isn't that one of the functions of curing?I can't add much that hasn't been discussed, although there is one factor that I always keep in mind while drying & curing. It is the chlorophyll in the leaf that causes harshness and a green, minty (unpleasant) taste. If the bud dries quickly the chlorophyl has no time to break down and is locked into the dry, green, leaf. It will always be there once the leaf dries, so you need to give it an opportunity to leave the building before the tissue has dried completely. To do this the buds must be bagged or jarred before the stems snap, of course, allowing the moisture to keep the tissue viable as the chemical processes take place. Other compounds break down, too, and help to flavor the cured product. Think of an apple that was sour when you got it, but it was all sugar a few days later. Even though it had been picked for several days it still continued to ripen and change.
What does that do?Spraying sugar water on the roots when you pull them up and hang them up side down whole.
Decades older than most folks on here.
yea thats what i usually do..give or take a few days maybe..it all depends on the size of the buds and how dry its getting..like right now i harvested my plant 2days ago and my RH was at 35-45 temp 77 and my shit is drying to fast but i cant get my temp down..so ima bag it up tmrw till it gets moist then re hang itReally? Wait I thought bagging was another way to dry? haha. Is it a way to cure? I didn't know bagging redistributed moisture.yea thats what i usually do..give or take a few days maybe..it all depends on the size of the buds and how dry its getting..like right now i harvested my plant 2days ago and my RH was at 35-45 temp 77 and my shit is drying to fast but i cant get my temp down..so ima bag it up tmrw till it gets moist then re hang it
