Hey,

I'm a bit of a late adopter of the whole Blu Ray phenomenon. I've watched a few recently, namely: The Departed, shutter Island, Avatar, Apocolypse Now, Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction and the God Father Trilogy.

Do any of you High Def motherfucking lovers have any suggestions of movies that look great on Blu Ray?

I'll be doing this the Torrent way so links would be nice. (is this allowed on the forums?)

Thanks in advance, Movie freaks.

Thanks man,

I'm not much into streaming content. My CPU and GPU is more than capable. I'm a bit of a hoarder when it comes to movies. lol. I have fucking Terabytes of movies on my main rig. I mainly use torrents.

I've been reading a few top Blu Ray lists for ideas as to what looks best. Just wanted some imput from the average viewer.

thanks for the input. I have Sunshine on my PC in standard def, Still haven't watched it though. Should I wait and watch it in Blu Ray? Is it really that visually stunning?

Haha, didn't think about Back to the Future. Loved that as a kid. Does it transfer well to Blu Ray?

If you actually to this website and actually navigate through them you will that most of the HD movies are BR ripps that mean they are Blue ray ripped. The quality is amazing.. assuming leads to the first 3 letters it starts with.. u make of yourself... an "ass" befor doing your research..holla:peace:

Obviously bttf will have that classic look. But I think they did well on the transfer. It doesn't look forced into 1080p, and it's been cleaned up really well.

Sunshine blew me away on bluray. Don't watch the SD version. The bigger the tv the better! On my 70" I was speechless. It was the first bluray I got, and I haven't bought one since that I think looked better.

read up on bitrate. I rip movies for private sites. Just because they're ripped from blu ray doesn't mean they are blu ray quality.

Nah, so long as you know what you're looking for and download from reputable uploaders the risk is minimal Buddy. plus I'm sercured to the hilt virus wise. I learnt the hard way back in the Limewire days. These days torrents are very safe.

DivX isn't good for HD. It was MKV files which were a real resource drian on your comp. The encoders are getting better with BRrips now. Using MP4. Smaller file sizes, higher resolutions ans as such better quality.

Avatar Extended edition comes in at 4 GB's and the picture quality is so fucking crisp

There's a lot of rips going around that are just using higher quality settings from DVD rips in Handbrake. MKV sucks balls.

And there's a lot of stuff being ripped from HD TV and it's just not the same. The encoders are getting there though. MnM, Kingdom, and SecretMyth are putting out some good shit.

Originally DVD's were compressed down to fit on CD R's (700MB) Why the fuck are rippers like FXG still doing that.

LOL those rips are 2Mbps when blu ray is 40Mbps

I don't care if you can post links to another forum... Those are SIGNIFICANTLY worse quality than my blu rays... even on my 13" Macbook screen. Thanks though LOL

let me ask you this... when you compress a video down to 75% of it's original size... how do you think that works? does it magically get smaller? no it removes DETAIL FROM THE VIDEO.

divx doesnt have the best quality on some stuff but its better quality than a regular dvd..if you look at the size of the file that makes a difference in quality bigger file size better quality..
