1st timer! Don't have a green thumb....

Hello evryone and thank you for your patience. I have always wanted to begin a small indoor grow and could probably kill a cactus with ease.. I have looked at some idiot proof ways and have seen the Rainforest 66 and the Botanicare Microgarden in several threads as good small systems to use if you want to stay away from self sabotaging yourself with DIY's and such... Any suggestions for a true first timer?

Im a first timer too. Im going with the old fashion ways with soil, water and lights. I dont have a green thumb either but I figured Id learn this way and in the future, next grow ever, go for some hydro system.

600w hps. mylar around the plants. plant seed straight into 30 gallon pot. vegetate for 4-6 weeks with high nitrogen nutes. Then strict 12/12 for flowering with high phosphorus nutes. wait till top 3-4 inches of soil is bone dry before each water. keep a window open. keep at 75-80 degrees f. flush 2 weeks before the chop and keep in dark 3 days before. dry. cure. smoke.

30 gallon pot?!? Everything else is good info, but for a first time grower use 1 gallon of soil for every foot of vertical growth. I use 3 - 5 gallon buckets and get a great yield with soil.

Good stuff. I thought the systems would make it easier, but I'll definitely wait if it's that much more complicated. What are some nice, short strains good for small stealth?

unless you have a high tolerance for THC and need high powered strains now you may wish to consider autoflowering strains like Lowryder. They stay small and flower automatically when they reach about 3 weeks in age. You can leave the lights on 24/0 if you want to.

Do the autoflowering strains always have lower levels? While I am a grow newb I am an avid smoker. The whole reason I got into this was to experience the REAL strains from around the world first hand.. Thanks guys.

if they used Ruderalis as one of the parents to get the autoflowering trait into the genes then the answer is yes.
There are techniques to dwarf any strain. The easiest is just to put a physical barrier over the plant in the form of a screen, chicken wire is a very popular one. This is referrred to as Scrog (screen of green) Growing fom a mass of clones flowered shortly after they've rooted is another (sea of green) This requires a clone mother to be established first and grown off in a seperate room.
