Cant Get Anything To Sprout

Ok, I have lots of questions. Just trying to figure out where Im going wrong.

I have a little grow box : http://www.youtube.com/user/SproutDoubts?feature=mhum, if you wanna see the exact setup.

I have 4 14w cfls (they are actually 14, rated for 26 or something, they say 14watts and 5000k on them. They've been on 24/0.

I put 2/4 seeds in maybe 28 hours ago, put them in with the white root that was cracking out of the seed down. I have had a constant drip of about a drop every 2 minutes on the smallest fiber rock cube i could find. The medium is saturated, Im thinking I need to use less water.

when I was transplanting the seeds from the jiffy disks to a fiber rock cube (because I didn't want dirt in my pump or water), I noticed the roots were longer than when I put them in. I tried to not let them touch the lights while I moved them again root down into a new medium.

the other 2 seeds went directly from paper towels and a plastic bag to rock wool, I don't have any water dripping on them, I simply let the rock wool soak and now its only been in there about 9 hours, they are closer to the light though by maybe 2 inches (not in my video)

Now questions about the seeds/sprouts.

Should my seeds have sprouted by now?, i see many threads with people suggesting theirs were visible and maybe inch or so high after a night.

Should I upgrade my lights or am I ok until the next paycheck :)?

Is it too much water for the seed?

Did my transplant cause it to slow?

THANKS IN ADVANCE DR. GREENTHUMBS!

yes u damaged the germinatingseed which is a disaster, even if they sprout the seedling will be stressed.
you did everything right untill u reach in and reefed them out of jiffi. They were in the process of anchoring in that soil. The embryo has very limited energy. The way a seedling is treated in that 4week period determines the wieght of the harvest at the end.
Put the seeds straight in rw cubes(dont crack in paper towels, u double handle it and stress it)
keep them wet
get a heat mat
keep cubes about 26 c
after sprouting and first blades showing ,let cubes dry out a little.
you will do much better this way

I prefer a rapid rooter or garden plug, it does not fall apart like you would think. I've never had any issues with them. They are not likely to cause PH problems like rockwool is.

Germinate the seeds in a paper towel and plastic bag. Once you have a tap root, place it tap root down not too far into the hole. Then wait fora few days, remember nothing but mistakes happen fast in gardening.

Thanks for the speedy reply. I figured I damaged them :( Is it worth growing them still though? I don't know which are females so I thought Id grow em all until I can tell...

Iv heard various different opinions, but i do like paper towels. On the newest 2 seeds though I did germinate in paper towel BUT as soon as I saw roots (they were maybe 1/2 cm. I put them root down in the rockwool and wet it with water.
This not ok?

keep them wet
get a heat mat
keep cubes about 26 c
How wet? cubes are damp to touch. This means they are wetter inside?
not sure what a heat mat does...
26 Celsius?

Thanks once more! Cheers

The process you suggest is just what I'v done,

I wish there were a safee way to look at the roots. :) like clear medium.

So far the hardest thing about growing has been patience. Maybe its something I should learn. I just wanna sit there and watch water drip on these seeds. Last night I got pretty stoned and was working in the box and passed out lying with my babies :) (sleeping with them didn't make them wanna get up in the morning i guess :D)

It was very hard for me to learn patience to prepare i spent a year growing tomatoes and peppers which really helped me learn to let mother nature do her thing. I got used to hydro nutrients and made all the mistakes you could imagine. so i was ready to grow when i started growing cannabis.

Are these bag seeds or named beans?

Im growing with bagseeds.

When I pick up for my personal consumption I get about 4 ounces. Iv found maybe 8 seeds. (not calculating the ones Iv probably smoked and the ones I probably crushed up by accident then smoked[they were shitty anyway :)]) The weeds pretty potent, medical grade from cali,DRAGON HAZE. I don't know much about the strain but its fucking kill. I know Its a hybrid of http://www.marijuanareviews.com/red-dragon-barneys-386.html though it looks and smells exactly the same.

Iv heard that with bagseed I could get a very bad plant or a way dank one. Is this truth?

Yes its true, you could get a really awesome plant from bagseed sometimes, Concord down got a PINK budding plant from bagseed. The beauty had bright pink pistils. It was awesome.

It's good your starting with bagseed, named seeds cost too much to experiment with. Once you have your grow on lock, then reach out for named beans.

Now Im excited, Its like the lottery!

Yeah, If all goes well with this lil op I will buy some preference seeds and build a little larger of a space.

Two of the seeds I placed a plasic baggy over the medium to retain humidity. Is this a good idea? Lights are still on 24. Thinking about 18/6 till they sprout. No need for 24 if they are dead...

Thanks,

Im going to assume they are growing. Maybe tomorrow they will be visible.

I think the most painful thing is that theres nothing to look at.

i was talking to the guy at the hyrdo store near myself and he said "its hard to know until you know" in response to whether my seedlings are alive under there. Pretty philisophical.
