Dumpster Diving!

I used to grab all the empty DVD cases behind the movie rental place, and put my burned copies in them. For now, i'm looking out for someone throwing away a metal cabinet that i could turn into a grow cabinet. I passed one up last summer, cause it had a rust hole. Still looking.....

If we can just shift societies way of thinking this would be considered a great thing to do for it. It is all a bit Bass Aackwards now because the people that are the worst throw away consumers are the ones who will turn their nose up at you for doing it or hold you at gun point until the cops get there. Having done some work at Landfills in the past I can tell you with the utmost of certainty that even the stuff we recycle gets buried. Huge loads od nothing but plastic being buried and will not even start to decompose for 1000 years.

Been years, but as I kid I found some kick ass shit. As a teenager we used to check the dumpster behind the cop shop, they would throw away confiscated beer. They got us a drunk plenty of times without knowing it =p

Now I check craigslist free ads, I've had some good finds. A/C system, swamp cooler, and a few air purifiers.

keep an eye out for needles that scares me more than anything, the biggest reason i wont DD
Lucky for me where I DD there aren't any Junkies. Worse I have to keep an eye out for is broken glass. It's the same as everything in life, keep your wits about you and be aware of your surroundings.

Sweet. Haha getting wasted on confiscated pig beer is awesome.

I Craigslist is a really good resource. I know a guy on another Forum that built a Cabin from free and cheap stuff from Craigslist.

Latest find: A poster sized mirror with a pine frame that someone threw out. The mirror was cracked so I flipped it so the wooden backing was facing where the mirror was. Spray painted the wood black and spray mounted a Pulp Fiction poster to it.

Here she is.

Ha I see this hobo dumpster diving outside of a bar that I can see from my apartment, he always is stumbling away after drinking all the reminents of the bottles they throw out.

I used to go pick up scrap metal on garbage days and trade it in for some cash. Me and my friends would bring in enough to get a nice bag of some ganja back in highschool.

Thanks for the compliment.

You'd surprised at the stuff people throw away. Once you tune your eyes to looking you'll see stuff everywhere.

Our society is very disposable. Even though money is tight for most of us, things are still very cheap to replace when they break. Remember when we were young and there were repair shops to fix your electricals? Don't see so many of those any more.

Lol. You remind me of Bubbles from the Wire trading in scrap copper for money to get high. (No offence intended)

Holy shit that is perfect for this thread. Bubbles from Trailer Park Boys was all about living on the cheap. Repairing shopping carts to pay for food for his kitties Lol. And Ricky living in a car. Fucking love Trailer Park Boys.
