Also, that lamp comes with a HQI-T (4000k) bulb, so if its all you got, you can use it for veg and flowering. And if you use it in combination with a HPS for flowering, you will keep your plants greener for longer during flowering.

LOL... you guys rock! Kinda sad that everything seems cheaper over on your end Capt Jaz... Dbkick, I am fully prepared to do demo if i have to (but minimal is always better). Thankfully, I have a very supportive hubby who lets me do whatever makes me happy... and he knows pot makes me happy. LOL... that and I think he realizes that in the long run, growing my own will ultimately save him a lot more money... Again, it's almost overwhelming how many options there are for everything... Lol, starting with reg, fem, auto-flower seeds, and then what medium, lighting, cooling, ventilation, co2... so many things... I want my next set up to have everything I need to be successful, but nothing thats unnecessary
Lol, yea, I lived in florida for awhile, and I really can't believe the cost of living over there! Only things that you guys got cheaper are booze, ciggies, and petrol!
Plus, us UK ppl love our weed, and growing it, so there are alot of hydro shops and they all compete for lowest prices. :)
Also, fem and autoflowering plants are fine, but you can't use either for a mother plant.

I am assuming you do not have a basement Bonzi? LOL, I'm sorry. Believe you me, there is so much random stuff in this basement, you might as well call it a Salvation Army... because it's filled with crap... Ha ha... LOL... mostly storage and toys. That sun blaze t5 is nice... I am thinking about starting a excel spreadsheet comparing all of this stuff to each other. Lol, what a nerdy thing to do

I love buying stuff from Amazon... I have never had any problems with them.

btw... +rep for Bonzi, Capt Jaz, DBkick and Stoner Barbie... you are so helpful!
Thanks! Your safe on ebay too. And if you can, go for a 600w. Well worth it for the extra penatration and lumens.

I'm just letting you know your safe to germ your seed's in FF ocean forest. I have personally never "Burnt a Seedling"??? That's all I use is FF product's...because that's what i started out with and figured out how to tame the nutes,,,DO not feed anything for at least 4 week's in Ocean forest,,,Maybe even longer if you do not need to water as often? MH,,HPS,,,Wattage,,,plant size,,,container size,,,heat...etc all play a factor,,,The more waterings the more nute's in the soil are used and rinsed away,,,So only feed when you "Read",,,the plant's needs.
I have grown many different strain's and never had a problem,,,I use MH/HPS,,,400/600 watts. any question's just ask,,,and good Luck growing',,,it get's addictive!:weed:

Keep track of every penny you spend, it adds up quickly, but so do the returns.

FWIW I charge my Wife $10 a 1/4 oz (I pay the same) so don't feel bad charging your mother.

I've been eyeballing that exact same light from HTG. I'm preparing to move my grow out of the closet and take over the extra bedroom so I don't think I'll need a vented hood. I plan to run a window a/c unit if it gets too warm(which I'm sure it will this summer)

Thanks peach!... and Barbie 2... I have been doing a lot of reading on different soils. I'm pretty confident if I can grow in MG potting mix (not soil, stupidly mix) that my plants will LOVE the FF. I'm in a small set up right now, but will be upgrading the space and lighting very soon.

I just realized that the four .92 walmart CFLs 60 watt are 6500K daylight... but i have to get them off the track lighting and over the plants. (didn't even notice this on the box- non-blonde blonde moment LOL)

Whatever you use, its worth getting some perilite and/or vermiculite in there too. For some reason my local grow shop doesn't sell vermiculite, though the local garden center does, but i found it much cheaper at a pet store cos apparently, spiders and reptiles like it for egg laying!

Well, I'm pretty sure I will be charging my mom more than $10... lol... out here its easily $120 a qtr. Which sucks... but I will giver her a good price, she makes pretty good money... lol

Hopefully they have perlite at the indoor garden place he's stopping at. Lol, its definitely on the list right under FF OF... Good to know about the pet store though... probably would have never thought of that.

Anyone have thoughts on perlite vs vermauculite vs dolomite?

Np, when u get to more advanced stages, the pet store is also the cheapest place to get climate control switchs, that regulate your equipment for decreasing/increasing temps and humidity.

Yeah out here the prices are generally $20 a gram, $60 an 8r, $120 a qtr, $220 a half, and an easy $400 an ounce! I am so sick of spending WAY TO MUCH money every week!

I haven't used dolomite, but personally, I like to grow hydro in a 50/50 perilite/vermiculite mix, with 1" of clay pebbles on the top and bottom. A perilite/vermiculite mix is also better for rooting cuttings imo... I used to use a 1/3 each mix or perilite, vermiculite and coco, but the coco seems to build up salts quicker and can't be reused for more than 2 grow imo. The other 3 can be resused after a good long rinse.

Ocean Forest has Perlite in it,,,I alway's add alittle more,,,It's a couple dollar's and you really don't need much more. BUT "Miracle Gro-Perlite",,,has added nutrient's to it,,,SO beware It will make you Soil even hotter!!!,,,I have a nutural no added nute kind now,,,Read the package good,,,

I'm pretty sure after this experience that I won't be using MG at all in the future, except outside for my tomatoes and raspberries. My seedling is two weeks old, after transplanted in the FF, should I still wait at least 4 weeks before considering FF Grow big nute?

Vermiculite is a good addition too. I add both perlite and vermiculite to my soil. DO NOT inhale the perlite dust. BAD, BAD ju-ju. I have friends that wet their perlite before working with it to keep the dust down.
