No amber trichomes but looks tasty as hell and over 8 weeks. Harvest?

Heya fellow stoners :peace:
So my Northern Lights are 8 weeks and 2 days into flowering. I have a 15x microscope with which I am checking out the trichomes. I think the zoom is too little, because I am not 100% sure about the trichome colour, but they all look white to me. So I am yet to see the amber trichs, do they appear on all strains? Should I just give a week more or so? Thank you for hearing me out.

You still have a few white pistils here and there, but it's pretty much done at any time you like. Looks quite tasty.

Does pistil colour actually matter? :O I thought it's all about the trichs.... So I should not harvest before all trichs turn to red?

Pistil colour and appearance gives an indication of harvest time, but not as accurately as harvesting for specific trichome ratios. Nowadays i do peek at the trich colours but i tend to just harvest it when it looks nice and ready.

It's just if it's really done, done, there won't be any new flowers forming. I just scoped my white russian and it's all cloudy right now, but the tops of a couple of them still have a lot of active new flowers, much more than yours, so I'm waiting another week to see what's what. Trichs is really where it's at for accuracy, for sure.

Ok, cool, so can I say that the time for harvest will be some time in the following days? Or should I give it a week or more? What do you suggest?

You should go into the harvesting and curing forum and look at threads about checking when your plant is ready.

Some of the ways are

THE SWELL the buds will swell up when nearly ready
THE RECEEDING HAIRS the pistels will receed back toward the bud when the plant is ripe.
THE TRICHOMES these will be however you like it to be 20/80 50/50 80/20 amber to milky
and the overall appearance, A bud will take on a completely different appearance when it is ready to be harvested.​

Pick some now if you want and pick some later. Weed is totally smokable one the heads of the glands have turned milky. A majority of milky crystals will give you more of a head/spacey energy high. When the crystals turn amber they give you a more sleepy/crotch lock high. Most people harvest when the heads are at 50/50 or 25/75 (milky to amber ratio).

Well I chopped early my last Northern Lights grow, and the results were SPECTACULAR. I harvested after 7 weeks of flowering and man, it was the best ganja I have ever had come across... And by saying best ganja, I mean MINDBLOWING...

What seedbank did you the seeds from, they look great. I'm waiting on seedman northern lights, hope it shows up soon so I can get started asap.

I've had plants that never stopped producing new flowers. You cannot go by that.

it's all personal at the end... more amber is more stony. as long as it's ready it's ready. i like to wait at least a week after i think it's ready. sometimes i pull just as the amber is just coming on but not yet a third. i've had spectacular smoke with no amber, but a little bit of amber gives it that extra little kick that i love.

thinkin its close to 50 percent i would flush with honey :)) for last week and let it sit for 72 hrs of darkness and omg you will enjoy

Close enough! As everyone else has stated, it's up to you. I like to wait until my leaves start to really yellow, but I'm an indica fan too.
