Ripe for weeks but no amber…any help?

Wrong testing says otherwise
I check the trichs every morning and end up spending way more time than I intended.
I know I’ve made a lot of mistakes and stressed the plants a good bit, so I’d have to place any blame for the mediocre parts of the grow squarely on my shoulders….hey, you grow and learn hopefully.
Both of the remaining plants are starting to get some amber trichs but not evenly distributed at all. No pattern is clear to me. One little section of a bud might have half ambers, but the same bud may not have any ambers elsewhere….and a fair number of clears. It’s not top/bottom related and I’m only looking at calyx trichs and trichs on the interior of the buds….the ones I can see clearly.
i see an awful lot of calyces that have the trichs with no heads just the straight stalk. I suppose I could have knocked them off but that’s what I’ve got.
Back when we grew outdoors we didn’t know what a trichome was, so it was all about no more white hairs, fat calyces, a nice glazed donut look…..buds had to be just like that and then it was add one week and chop. I wish I’d paid more attention to what all my buddy was doing during the process but I supplied the land and he was the brains with the gardening skills…but I digress.
It’s weird, on the one plant, there are white hairs that have been present, long and white, for at least 5 weeks. They basically fall off if touched….so they’re never gonna turn and recede. All of the most recent pistil production has followed the script. So I’m watching the trichs and once I see the right combo I’ll know it and chop. There are still a few more clears than ambers…..when that flips I think I’ll pull the trigger.

I'm basing this on my own experience and running a large scale business. Most in the industry will pull early because it aligned with their schedule. However I wait until the plants are simply done. I've done testing with the my clones and everything in the room the exact same. Everytime I wait until the pistils turn brown and recede and wait my usual 2 weeks my testing numbers for thc, terps and every other property I'm looking to cultivate is remarkably higher than the ones pulled based off of trichromes. Not to mention bud density and weight is significantly higher.

I noticed 95% of the bud i got in my states medical program was pulled a tad early.

So was it poor watering practices that did a number on the roots ? Damn, that’s one part I thought I had mastered. Always let them go through a good wet to dry cycle….pots were generally light as a feather when I watered.
If you let the soil get too dry it can become hydrophobic leaving dry spots that the water just runs off of. So even if you think you've watered there can be a big dry spot in the middle that the roots won't grow into. I'm not saying that happened with your plant but when you say light as a feather that sounds like extremely dry.

u could be right. Only once when I was out of town did I wait too long and the plants were drooping big time.
When I watered I’d take a while…saturate all around the pot edge to edge then wait 20-30 min and do it again. I could usually get almost a full gallon in each 3 gallon pot before I’d see a little runoff….then I’d stop.
I wish I had mixed in some perlite but was running straight FFOF. And some sort of mulch is needed…..the top of the soil would dry out really quick. I wish I’d put a coco disc or some sort Of mulch to keep the top layer moist.
These are just a couple changes I’m making for my next run.

The first sentence explains both the two following paragraphs. Continuously checking the trichomes is damaging them. Damaged trichomes will prematurely amber. Damaged trichomes can also lose their bulbous head.

This process repeatedly done is going to lead you to pulling early and have damaged buds/less THC.

i have no doubt that I’ve banged into my buds more than I’d prefer….but checking the trichs hasn’t been the reason.
i have a jewelers loupe and get very close to the buds but not touching them. I can sit in a chair Eye level with the plants, lean over and check away without coming into contact with any plant material. I can spin the pots around to get a good look at buds from different sections and see plenty…and not touch.
I’ve screwed up plenty and did some things dead wrong….but checking the trichs is the safest thing I can do when it comes to damaging the plants and the least of my worries.

It'd be impossible for me to determine the issue with your roots. I don't know the details of you grow and I don't grow in soil. My plants are fed every day.
Good day Sir, I wanted to pick your brain as you seem to be a knowledgeable and experienced grower who’s not afraid to give sage advice.
I’m ready to harvest the other 2 plants and was planning on doing it tomorrow. As I was looking in on them with my hand held magnifying glass I spotted what I thought was a hair. I’ve had quite a few from my Golden Retriever land on my buds and usually pluck them carefully with tweezers.
Upon a closer look it was clear that it was a single strand of spider web. So tiny it’s hard to even find again if u take your eyes off of it.
I then found the same single strand in a couple other places. I looked really hard and didn’t see any spiders or other evidence.
They didn’t get there by themselves and I’m afraid I may have a spider mite issue. I check the plants every day since I have hardly any leaves remaining and am watchful of any dying leaves spreading into the buds. It’s possible they’ve been there a few days but not any longer.
I thought about washing those buds (or the entire plant) in the typical peroxide mix and/or the lemon juice + baking soda mix. Assuming there isn’t some serious damage internally, what would you do??
I appreciate any advice here and can only hope there is a solution. If I wasn’t so anal about giving the buds a once over daily I would have chopped and never Noticed…..as a matter of fact I thought it was a glare in my magnifying glass at first and almost skipped on to the next spot.
Thank u again.

I'm thankful but afraid I can't help you here. I have zero experience with spider mites. Pictures would help if you could get one.

I can only say, check everywhere, under side of the leaves and everything. GL.
