Ok first time i have had this prob. have clones that i have rooted its a hydro grow and my ph keeps changing. I change the water every week.. Right now its at 300 ppm GH 3 part with some thrive alive running normal city water. Water is 190ppm right out the tap. Try and keep my water at 5.8 ph but after 2 days ramps up to almost 8.0!!!! And keeps doing it have to constantly add ph down. and my poor babys look horrible. What could be causing the ph to change so drastic?tw.jpgq.jpg

All kinds of shit could be the culprit if you have a sulpher burner and you are running your res air pumps along with it that would do it, if your res is uncovered water evaporation would also do it. But either way thats an unacceptable ph spike for sure I guess their are other parameters in your system that would have to be explored to know for sure process of elim

300 ppm including the 190 out of the tap? Should up your nutes, GH will help buffer
the pH. I don't usually run an EC lower than .9-1.0

No the res is not covered and no sulfer burner but have airstones running all the time... I'm planning on uppping the nutes but I think they r in nute lockout right now sooo running just straight wAter for a lil then try slowly up the nutes cause I would like it to at least be 500 ppm right now

is it the ph fluctuating or your cheap meter giving u false readings? get a good quality one for $60+, and get a more accurate reading.

And that's what's tripn me out I've never seen waters ph change so drastic. And I could see where water evap from the res but the water level is mark and never changes

ok all u can do is check it twice daily untill youve got it under control.

Yea i have been checking it 2 to 3 times a day and staying on top of it the plants r looking much better and finaly growing!!! Hoping when i up the nutes with the GH it will help buffer the ph like stated earlier. And the ph straight from the tap is around 7.2

I use GH FloraNova Bloom, Hygrozyme, Kool Bloom, H2O2 & Floralicious in a 10-gallon res. I have unsoftened community well water, which comes out of the tap at a ppm of 350 & pH of 7.8. I used to use distilled, but my clones seem to tolerate the well water just fine & lugging all that water around started to suck.

I pH my nute solution down to 5.5 when doing water changes. Within 24 hours, it'll spike (up) to 6.5 if I don't constantly check it. After about 48 hours, the pH tends to stabilize, and later starts going in the opposite direction (down) as water is consumed/evaporated. Then I just add plain tap water instead of pH-UP to stabilize until its time to change the water, which is every 7-14 days. From my experience, when I used distilled water instead, the pH was no more stable.
