So I'm thinking of buying a house :-)

So I'm 24 and currently living with my mom while I finish school. So obviously home prices are way way low right now. I'm thinking of getting a place in lower Michigan, I like the state and its better than Indiana haha. But yea, having a house would be way better (and more security) than renting. Also, it would give me a chance to pursue my hobbies both cannabis and engineering. So yea, its just an idea right now but I think now would be a good time.

Go for it.... hope you know about different construction skills... carpentry, plumbing, electrical..... once you own a house it seems like the projects never end!

I bought the house IM in now 5 years ago and in texas you can homstead your house and it cant have a lien put on it if you are sued.........plus taxes are cheaper....I had it built so its just the way I want it............My morgage payment is 900 bucks a month and that includes the escrow account that pays all the insurance and Tax's.....its 2300 sq feet and you cant rent that cheap around here for the size of house and the 4 acres of land that goes with it.............IM very lucky to of been able to buy a house and I think it s wise idea to buy one..........like you say no landlords and if you want to paint the room you dont have to ask.....................its YOURS and will be unless you default LOL........stay with in a budget and dont get suckered out of price range by a slick realitor....be very generous in what you think you will spend and can afford then back down a bit so you have some lee way in hard times........just a thought

Well I can't really afford it per se, I'm still only making about $9/hour for the time being. I am really really good with tools and any kind of project, so I got that in spades. I'm thinking of betting kind of a beater, just something which will allow me to pursue my hobbies and/or help make a living. I don't care if I have engines torn apart in my living room, I'm not really going to be entertaining guests, haha. But housing prices are so low, and I'm about that age, I think it would be a good decision.
